Dude you sound like an old fart that reminds me of my grandparents who always questioned the need to get new technologies... Geez if everyone thinks like you then might as well bring back the old cord phones, walkie talkie brick size cell phones and tv tube after all it does what it needs to do... Guess it is only useless for someone who has very lil social life, always either at work to use their work computer or at home in their parents basement borrowing their internet... don't get how you can't find a smartphone handy when you are out with your boys at the bar or at the shopping mall with your gal... unless you have neither of them... Go build and time machine and go back 20 yrs since that era is clearly where you belong old fart lol... :):):ohno:

I used to think texting was ridiculous. I'd say just pick up the damn phone and call them if you need to talk to them.
Now I fully understand that texting is sometimes convenient, when your in a place or situation where you cant make a call.
But most people are way too carried away by texting, and are texting every other minute no matter the situation.
I also fully understand needing a smartphone or "dumb phone" as I call them, if you operate a business.
However I do have a question for everyone who is so caught up in these smart phones. If you left your phone at your house
tomorrow all day, would you suffer from anxiety or have a panic attack? I think a few of you just might....
But hey, just about everyone has these phones, myself included. So in 20 yrs at least we won't feel like the odd ones out, when we have the same
baseball size growth hanging off the side of our faces that everyone has.

Well, I made the decision years ago to get rid of our home phone. Who needs a home phone and the added bill that goes with it? We have five cell phones in our house and I pay less than $170 a month for plenty of minutes and unlimited data. I get a great deal.

Lets not be telling the world that we are willing to pay 500 a month for phone service.

Thats not very smart.

BECAUSE THEY WILL CHARGE IT IF THEY THINK THEY CAN GET IT.

Need a smartphone at work for personal email, betting, etc. All big companies with privacy concerns block yahoo/gmail etc.

Who gives a shit about a 2yr contract? Are you telling me you haven't had a cell phone for the past 5-10 years and won't for at least 2 more?

In NYC where you walk to work or take the train, you gotta have some music on there. mp3's for my songs, and Pandora if I want to hear something new for free. New free Podcasts of sports shows like PTI or educational stuff like TED Talks daily.

Lot of airlines have ticketless check in, don't even have to stop at a kiosk just walk right up to security and scan your phone screen.

If i don't know where I am, GPS shows me. Can't remember the address or name of the place? Google maps and you got the address and directions

Wanna order some food delivery, seamless web for the menu, order online or call them. Walking by a new restaurant not sure about it? Check out Yelp for customer reviews.

No joke - if i had my iphone and a good 3G or Wifi connection I could do 2 years in prison no problem at all, still make money too.

Smartphones are a revolutionary invention -- get on board brother

I'm already addicted to my laptop. Thats all I need is a smartphone......I still am using my 6 year old LG and it's fine for me. On the other hand my son has an iphone and tells me how great they are. To each his own but I am fine with a basic phone with texting.

Yeah, built a new Home office and the Wife gets pissed that I'm always on the Laptop in the Living room.

But a Smartphone is a must on the Go :103631605

1. contracts rip you off at 85 bucks a month for 400-450 mins.
2. they hold you hostage for 2 years.
3. no more unlimited data, you'll be paying even more now with most carriers having tiered plans and with 4g, you'll burn through your allotment.
4. i think almost everyone has access to a computer at work and home.
5. apps are horribly overrated for the most part.

im trying to break my contract with verizon now. when i do ill go back to my prepaid t mobile flip phone that cost 5 bucks a month.

Are you a dummy in real life or do you just play one on the internet?
