It honestly wouldn't surprise me if this is a marketing ploy. They did this last year, and brought it back in time for almost all of the NBA and NCAAB seasons. Get people talking about Skybook, how great the place is with the half point, then, "well, we just love our customers so damn much we're gonna keep the half point for just one more year, OK?"

Then most everyone on here will post "YAY Skybook, place rocks, etc etc etc", and in comes the money.

hahhaahahahaha....Extremely pathetic if it planned it like that

Who cares if it a marketing ploy? As long as you get the half point in the end, no one should care.

im glad this was posted as i just got home from work and first thing on my to do list was send skybook 2500.

first they close one my favorite books international island and now i lose the free half point on my book breaking 200 dollar wagers.

i would seriously like to take a look at their P/L statements and see how bad off the rio group really is

I don't think they would plan it as a ploy, maybe try to kill it for hoops, fail, bring it back... maybe smaller !

Seriously way off base. The truth is the free half point in basketball can get very expensive because of the sheer volume of games, many more free half points than in football come into play in basketball.

The 50" TV giveaway contests (as Jaskostate knows, he won one) are part of a marketing campaign. Ending free half points in basketball is just a business decision made by Skybook management.

Skybook

skybook is completely gay...

bad, bad move by skybook...

I've said for almost a year that skybook's vastly overrated and this decision just proves that...

skybook is pretty much as vanilla as they come...

you've got to love the -113, -117 and -120 lines that skybook has too...excellent stuff...lol...

Their lines go up so late and are very vanilla that I can't imagine I'll be betting there outside of football season, aside from perhaps a token $100 bet to remain eligible for TV promotions.

Perhaps if they don't want to offer the half point they might consider booking basketball at -107? So many books offer reduced juice now that there's no reason to bet with a full juice book that doesn't have opinionated lines and doesn't offer overnights.

I'm trying to lose there. Ran 4 dimes down to a nickel, but doubled up. I'll re-up if I lose ( for a bonus) they are still useable for NFL, after that no value at all.

Free 1/2 Point is why 90% of people play at SkyBook. Once they don't offer that, why would anyone play ???

Lines are out SOOOOOOOOOO LATE, and they don't offer much as in types of wagers, betting options.

Killing the FREE 1/2 point, will hurt the books bottom line as they will not see much action this NBA season as people with looks elsewhere.

Hope it changes, but don't count on it.

If your going to call yourself the "home of the free half point". I think you have to do basketball or you will just be seen as a joke of a sportsbook. skybook is better then this. If not I then have a very bad read on them.

Wil,

Has a final decision been made concerning this?

Honestly, I am not even sure if it is up for discussion. I do know that Skybook management is aware of this thread. Should I hear anything one way or another I will report it here immediately.

This is a book that has gone from one of the most valuable to one of the least valuable out there. Soon they will deal double lines and have $500 limits...

About 5 years ago, it was a free half point on everything (Totals and sides up to $1000).

Then they went to up to $500.

Then no 3s.

Then no 7s.

Then they went to shading their lines to make the half less and less useful.

Then they went to $300 baskets.

Now no baskets.

Teaser odds much worse than in the past.

-110 vig.

Late lines.

Baseball lines have gotten much worse. (They just copy Pinny and add 3-5 cents)

I keep about 1/4 what I used to keep there and if they bag the basketball half pts, I will be out completely.

Other than the fact they pay, someone give me any reasonable reason to play there anymore... In this day and age you gotta give something - -105 lines, early lines, good teasers, etc... The free half pts on football are of no value. If you are unable to find a better or equal line elsewhere on 98+% of the games, you are quite rhomboid.

Now they don't even have a line for the 1st half Phoenix/Lakers Game.

WTF ?

Sean, in effect they have had a $500 limit for a long time. Who bets over $500 on much of anything at Skybook ?

Does skybook post in this forum? I would just like to know if losing the free half pt is official for hoops. Then i can procede to withdrawal. Dont really want too, but i cant see any reason for staying.

The answer is just about no one or very rarely. But that did not used to be the case. They used to be a great out and are becoming a Bodog.
