Sandusky was judged & will spend the rest of his life in jail, he's the culprit. Some of the posts here about Joe P
are ridiculous! Some posts remind me of a disc jockey in Florida who implored his listeners to turn off all there electricity at the time Ted Pundy was being electrocuted so his body would be burned to ashes. Paterno led his last few months on earth in torment, no need to pick the carcass.
Leave the statue up for those who still cherish 50 years of Paterno's time at Penn State, & there are probably
many who do. Paterno as he said after he was fired 'could have done more' but he was not an evil doer!

In 3rd world countries we see statues of Saddam & Khadafi shredded while sons of Bedoiun herders foam at the mouth with glee. Paterno has a very sad ending, as for Sandusky his life will end end jail. Justice is served for one & all lets move on!

I will tell ya. If that was a family member of mine. I would have killed Joe Pa, Sanduskey, McQuery also. I would also have to kill the family members of all involved. You see with shit like this you don't just get even you have to do 3 times what they did to you.

I picture my little nephew and it would enraged me that I would kill all of them. It amazes me that more people don't think like me. Remember not to just get even you must go way past what they did so that means you kill about 20 people for this. Joe Pa, his wife, his kid. Sanduskey, his wife. McQuerey and his wife, All the top guys from Penn St and thier wives and or kids.

You send a message that for the future people will not be silent. I have a friend that was abused as a child. I have seen the damage this has done and its never over for the victims. He is 44 yrs old and just can never get his shit together. Its terrible.

I would kill all child molesters and never lose any sleep over it
You might be as sick of a fuck as Sandusky

Answer to the question....I say the statue should be left alone....rememberance of what happened and can send different messages to different individuals....Joe Pa did not molest any of those kids...

I can live with that. What I can't live with is pedophile freaks and the people that cover for them. Kill them all.

See in my world we would have a lot less freaks and more dead scumbags. I do not apoligize for that

He will be remembered for what he didn't do over what he did do. He flushed his legacy down the toilet...so toss the statue in the sewers where it belongs. He could have done more...he said so himself...is the driver for a bank robbery any less guilty than the guy holding the gun???

Joe Paterno was told of a possible inpropriety that took place in the football showers. He took that information and reported it to his boss...the university president. Should he have done more after he realized nothing was reported to the police? Yes.

What Joe Paterno did was not criminal. Bad judgement yes but not criminal. Your comparison of his lack of judgement being the same as an accomplice during a bank robber isn't in the same city, county, state or area code. It's not even close to being the same thing.

Joe Pa was the fucking boss. You really think he didn't run the show up there? One word from him and the cops would of been at Sanduskys in a NY minute. If he knew anything at all...and the evidence is pretty apparent...then imo it might as well been him molesting those boys.

Joe Pa had a boss and reported what he saw to his boss. We can debate all day long whether he should've asked his boss later on what the outcome was but it is what it is. From what I know, McQuery told him he saw Sandusky "horsing around" in the shower and it wasn't clear he was actually raping the young kid. If that is the case and that is what McQuery told Joe Paterno then I'd probably have done what Joe Pa did with the difference being I would've asked later what the outcome was.

Raping a kid in the football showers and horsing around are two very different things. Again, he should've done more IMO but I can also see the other side that says he did what he thought was prudent.

Nobody in this thread has said anyone should've turned their head to this incident. Don't be dramatic.

Why the F didn't he (or others) immediately alert the police. IF I see a horrible crime I generally call the police, not write a memo to my boss or co-workers. WTF

Joe Paterno didn't witness a crime and the crime he was told about was described as "horsing around."

No, Sandusky used that as his defense. The Asst Coach said he had the kid pinned against the wall and was raping him. I'm sure Paterno knew of many more incidences, but chose do turn a blind eye as to not hurt the program. Joe Pa deserved to be fired and will burn in hell.

I guess you were there right? For those of us that were not present for McQueary and Paterno's conversation, this is what McQueary testified in a preliminary hearing he said to Paterno after the incident. He did not tell Paterno Sandusky had the kid pinned against the wall and was raping him. But of course you know Paterno knew of other incidences but just can't prove it right?

"He said he would not have used words like sodomy or intercourse with Paterno; he did not get into that much detail out of respect for the coach, he said.
Paterno told the grand jury that McQueary said he saw Sandusky doing something of a “sexual nature” with the youngster but that he didn’t press for details. “I didn’t push Mike . . . because he was very upset,” Paterno said.

“I knew Mike was upset, and I knew some kind of inappropriate action was being taken by Jerry Sandusky with a youngster.”

So in other words Mike was so upset at what he saw he couldn't describe it to Joe. Joe didn't press him because he knew that it was bothering him. What the fuck does this even mean?? I didn't push Mike because he was "upset"? What did he THINK could of happened that would be okay? You aren't this dense Enfuego...why the hell you are choosing to defend a guy who let a serial rapist run around campus is beyond me.

I can see how Joe's convo with the AD went now..

Joe - "Hey man...heard something about Jerry today...really weird too...Mike said he was fooling around in the shower a kid

AD - "Oh..well that is odd..by the way Joe...what did you shoot on the back nine yesterday???

That was probably the extent of "investigation" and "reporting" done by Paterno.

I'm not dense man, I'm just telling you what McQueary and Paterno both testified to the grand jury before the trial. Not my version of what happened but their version and their versions match each other.

McQueary sees something in the shower. He goes home and calls his dad who tells him to report it to Paterno. He calls Paterno and goes to his house and says he saw something inappropriate in the shower between Sandusky and a young boy. At this point it's clear he is not explicit in his description of what happened "out of respect for the coach." Paterno then calls Curley and reports what McQueary just told him.

I'm not sure what is hard to understand about this. McQueary was clearly embarrassed he had to tell Coach Paterno what he saw. He testified in court he told Paterno he saw something "sexual in nature."

You guys are assuming McQueary walked up to Paterno and said "hey coach, I just saw a kid getting but raped in the shower by Jerry Sandusky." That's clearly not what he said to him. Maybe if he did say that, Paterno would've done more. I don't think he did enough but McQueary clearly didn't tell the coach exactly what he saw in that shower that night.

Word for word from the Sandusky Grand Jury Findings.

"Paterno called Tim Curley, Penn St. athletic director and Paterno's immediate superior to his home the very next day, a Sunday, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the Lasch Building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy."
