I think the over in the 2h of the George Mason game is a great bet. Low scoring first half should lead to high scoring 2h, and RAS liked the over to begin with.

If public is all over ECU, shouldn't line be higher instead of lower? :think2:

no, not necessarily. other things effect lines more so than the public, such as sharp money coming in on tulane, injuries, etc.

anyways, game started awhile ago and ecu is losing by 3 with about 3 min left in the first half

If you see more public on one side (say 70+%), but the line going the other way....its the sharps laying BIG DOUGH on the other side forcing it the opposite way.

Didnt we c this same phenomenon on Monday with the Texas.Ohio state game??? Public on Texas, sharps on OSU.

Whenever you see this scenario ALWAYS back the sharps....it hits 70+% I would say at least

A lot of times it's the books, not sharps. The books will intentionally move a line the other way if they think the other side is going to cover, even though the money is coming in the other way. That way they entice even more people to take that side, and they make a killing when the "public" side fails to cover. It's called a "false line move" or "steam."

Anyone want to split Youngstown? They've got 2 CBB games and a hockey game tonight. I don't typically follow them on these sports, but they won both CBB games last night and actually have a pretty good overall record now.

Little correction. "Steam" is heavy money going on one side, not necessarily in a reverse line move. When RAS releases totals picks and the line moves 3-4 points it is an example of steam.

You're absolutely right. I just went back and reread what I wrote and I did classify steam the wrong way. Not really sure why I was lumping it in with false line moves? :think2: My bad, it was a long day.

Gonzaga vs Tennessee (NCAAB)

Event Date: 01/07/2009
Play: Tennessee -3.5
Comments: Gonzaga and Tennessee are definitley not strangers this year. Gonzaga gave Tennessee there first loss of the season on November 30th. Although Tennessee doesn't want to think of this game as a revenge game it certainly is. Tennessee is on a 37 game winning streak at home. They are 5-1 ATS this year as a favorite and a perfect 3-0 ATS at home. Gonzaga has hit a low point this season where they have lost 3 in a row dropping them out of the AP top 25. When Gonzaga defeated Tennessee back in November they shot a stunning 55% from behind the arc, some 20% higher than there season average. On the other side Tennesse shot 35.5% from the field which is 11% lower than there season average. Knowing these factors we are going to take Tennessee tonight. Look for the Volunteer's home crowd to help push them through for another win and make it 38 straight at home for Tennessee.

the east carolina line dropped 2 pts with 90% of the money on them, normally a horrible sign for the favorite
