Two teams here that didn’t play all that well down the stretch, but I like these generous points in this spot. Orlando just hasn’t been clicking of late as both Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu continue to battle through injuries. Meanwhile, the Sixers’ Thaddeus Young has returned from injury and he provides a nice scoring complement to Iguodala and Miller. And with Jameer Nelson no longer with Orlando, Miller has a clear advantage in the backcourt and that makes a huge difference come playoff time. Just look at Derrick Rose’s performance Saturday in Boston. Big Josh Howard will get his in the paint, but Sam Dalembert and the youngster Speights will bang around on him and Howard is a sub-par free throw shooter. Magic have failed to cover in five of their last six overall and this is just too many points to cover for a team that’s not clicking. Philly plus the points is the way to go.

This one’s going to be a tight one and it will come down to the final possession, but win or lose, the Heat will stay inside this Game 1 number. Miami is on a 21-8 spread run against the Hawks and have covered seven of their last nine at Philips Arena. This is just too big a number for Atlanta to cover, especially with a limited bench and Marvin Williams still not 100 percent recovered by any means from his back injury. Atlanta has failed to cover in six of its last eight overall, five of six at home and four straight against team with winning records. Each of Miami’s dinged up players (Haslem, Beasley, Moon) are set to go tonight and of course Miami has the Dwyane Wade (league’s leading scorer, most likely MVP runner-up) who can erase any shortcomings the Heat might have. He’ll come large tonight and Miami will keep this one close.

Sunday's Action
500♦ Denver Nuggets

Take the Nuggets at home minus the cheap chalk.

If there was one team to watch out west it would be the Nuggets as heading into the playoffs Denver was on fire and will at least remain that way through the first round of the playoffs. You see discounting their regular season lost at home the Nuggets earned more than earned their #2 seeding thanks to having won 14 of 16 games, including 10 straight at home.

Meanwhile, for the Hornets if traveling to the thin cold air of Denver was tough enough dealing with the fact they lost 6 of their last 8 to end the season is going to be a hard thing to overcome, especially given the fact that the Nuggets have a defensive point guard in Billups to slow down Chris Paul and the Hornets offense.

Flat out, thanks to being at home and minus a smaller than expected number I look for Denver to more than take care of business here today as they coast by double digits.

All Denver!

100♦ Pittsburgh Pirates

Building off of their 10-0 victory on Saturday I look for the Pirates to earn the home sweep of the Braves today. Helping us out today will be the left arm of Zack Duke who has been short of amazing thus far going 2-0 with a 0.59 ERA in his two starts. Even better it was Duke to posted a 1-0 record with a 1.54 ERA in two starts last season vs. the Braves. Meanwhile, for the Braves even with Vazquez pitching with a banged up Chipper Jones and Yunel Escobar they don’t stand much of a change of winning today on the road. Flat out, behind the arm of Duke I look for the Pirates to earn the home sweep of the Braves.

All Pittsburgh!

How the heck should Orlando be 17 point favorites!? What kind of system do they use to come up with that?
Yesterday, they predicted the 3* Cleveland Cavs to win by 17 points...they won by 18 (102-84)

STU FEINER:

Stu's 100 Dime NBA Playoff Winner #1

Philadelphia 76ers (+9') at Orlando Magic (190') - 5:35 p.m. EST

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (+9') 100 Dimes

Stu's 100 Dime NBA Playoff Winner #2

Miami Heat (+5) at Atlanta Hawks (186') - 8:05 p.m. EST

MIAMI HEAT (+5) 100 Dimes

Stu's 100 Dime MLB Winner #1

Atlanta Braves (Vazquez) at Pittsburgh Pirates (Duke) - 1:35 p.m. EST

Great price to get on board with Pittsburgh’s Zach Duke this afternoon as the Bucs go for their first three-game sweep of the Braves in 15 years. The Pirates pitching staff has an NL-best 2.63 ERA as Pittsburgh has tossed shutouts in two straight games and three of the last five overall. They could get another against this wounded (Chipper Jones, Yunel Escobar) and punch-less (.190 team batting average during five-game losing streak) Braves lineup. The left-handed Duke (2-0, 0.59) has been outstanding this year and went 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA in two starts versus the Braves in 2008. Javier Vazquez (0-1, 4.50) goes for Atlanta and he has a bloated 7.56 ERA in three career starts at PNC Park. Bring out the brooms as Craig Monroe and Pittsburgh gain this sweep today.

PITTSBURGH PIRATES (-105) 100 Dimes

Stu's 100 Dime MLB Winner #2

Baltimore Orioles (Uehara) at Boston Red Sox (Lester) - 1:35 p.m. EST

Boston has stayed under just twice in 11 games while the O’s have sailed over in nine of 11 and there will again be plenty of runs scored as this one sails over the posted total. Kevin Youkilis (.467) is tearing the cover off the ball and the Boston offense has scored 24 runs in winning three straight. They’ll jump on Baltimore starter Koji Uehara (7.20 ERA in two starts) as Baltimore pitching has a MLB-worst 6.49 ERA and has allowed an AL-high 24 homers. Baltimore pitching has allowed 60 runs in the last six games, but the O’s have tallied 35 in their last five. They’ll feast on Jon Lester (0-2, 9.00) who has allowed 18 hits and 11 earned runs in 11 frames this year. This one’s going over folks.
