TIGERS (With Verlander as listed pitcher)
Take the Tigers for the road win this afternoon over the Mariners.
Seattle stinks. I can’t spell it out for you any clearer than that.
The Mariners are tied with the Rockies for the worst record in baseball, have gone 7-20 in May while scoring just 94 runs, which is also worst in the majors for this month.
Felix Hernandez will start for Seattle and he’s 0-5 with a 5.54 ERA in his last six starts. During that span he’s walked 21 batters in 37 1-3 innings.
The Tigers will counter with Justin Verlander, who has been the victim of poor run support this year. Detroit has scored one or zero runs while Verlander has been in the game in eight of his 11 starts.
But scoring runs against the Mariners shouldn’t be a problem.
The Tigers are 4-0 against the Mariners this season, outscoring them 37-18.
Verlander has also had great success against Seattle in his career, going 5-0 with a 2.43 ERA in five starts.
Take the Tigers as they grab the road win.
5 Dime –
WHITE SOX (With Vazquez as listed pitcher)
Take the White Sox as the road dog over the Rays.
Insane price to pay for Tampa, considering how well the White Sox have been playing.
I know Scott Kazmir is pitching, but it’s not like he’s the second coming of Sandy Koufax.
Besides, the White Sox have won four of six and are 12-4 since May 13.
Javier Vazquez will get the nod and he’s looking to win his third straight decision. The right-hander has a 2.85 ERA over his last six starts and is 5-2 with a 4.48 ERA in 10 career starts against the Rays, including a 3-1 mark at Tropicana Field.
Take the White Sox at a nice plus return for the win.
RED SOX (With Lester as listed pitcher)
Take the Red Sox for the road win tonight over the Orioles.
Jon Lester will start for Boston and he’s 3-0 in four career starts against the O’s with a 3.00 ERA.
Baltimore will counter with Garrett Olson, who is 0-2 with a 7.63 ERA in three career starts against the BoSox.
After the 13-inning affair last night, both teams will be looking for their starters to take them deep into tonight’s game, and I feel that’s where the Red Sox have the advantage tonight with Lester.
Take Boston as they grab the road win.
