20 Dime –

TIGERS (With Verlander as listed pitcher)

Take the Tigers for the road win this afternoon over the Mariners.

Seattle stinks. I can’t spell it out for you any clearer than that.

The Mariners are tied with the Rockies for the worst record in baseball, have gone 7-20 in May while scoring just 94 runs, which is also worst in the majors for this month.

Felix Hernandez will start for Seattle and he’s 0-5 with a 5.54 ERA in his last six starts. During that span he’s walked 21 batters in 37 1-3 innings.

The Tigers will counter with Justin Verlander, who has been the victim of poor run support this year. Detroit has scored one or zero runs while Verlander has been in the game in eight of his 11 starts.

But scoring runs against the Mariners shouldn’t be a problem.

The Tigers are 4-0 against the Mariners this season, outscoring them 37-18.

Verlander has also had great success against Seattle in his career, going 5-0 with a 2.43 ERA in five starts.

Take the Tigers as they grab the road win.

5 Dime –

WHITE SOX (With Vazquez as listed pitcher)

Take the White Sox as the road dog over the Rays.

Insane price to pay for Tampa, considering how well the White Sox have been playing.

I know Scott Kazmir is pitching, but it’s not like he’s the second coming of Sandy Koufax.

Besides, the White Sox have won four of six and are 12-4 since May 13.

Javier Vazquez will get the nod and he’s looking to win his third straight decision. The right-hander has a 2.85 ERA over his last six starts and is 5-2 with a 4.48 ERA in 10 career starts against the Rays, including a 3-1 mark at Tropicana Field.

Take the White Sox at a nice plus return for the win.

RED SOX (With Lester as listed pitcher)

Take the Red Sox for the road win tonight over the Orioles.

Jon Lester will start for Boston and he’s 3-0 in four career starts against the O’s with a 3.00 ERA.

Baltimore will counter with Garrett Olson, who is 0-2 with a 7.63 ERA in three career starts against the BoSox.

After the 13-inning affair last night, both teams will be looking for their starters to take them deep into tonight’s game, and I feel that’s where the Red Sox have the advantage tonight with Lester.

Take Boston as they grab the road win.

11-1-1 since you've been following, actually 16-1-1 throghout the playoffs, but whose counting; we're playing w/ house $$. The most important thing about home ice is not the fans nor the ice surface but the ability to make last line change on every whistle. Coach Michel Therrien should take the summer off and go to a hocky school. Mike Babcock has made him look like the idiot he is. If MAF hadn't come up HUGE last gm. he'd be in the unemployment line. Every time he changes lines on a whistle the Wings have 3 over the boards in less than 15 sec. negating that large advantage. Until Crosby's goal the Pens were being outshot 9-0 & Detroit owned the 3rd period. To win this gm. coach T has to put Malkin on the Crosby line, Roberts on the 2nd line, & basically do what Detroit did last gm., roll 2 lines with the 3rd as a breather once in a while. Over-pd., over-rated Hossa w/Crosby-hell I could get 2 assists playing with Sid. Detroits #1 line logged over 26 min. of ice time last gm.-unheard of! I'm sorry but I'm going to buck the home ice crowd & take Detroit +110. Pittsburgh is desperate which means a lot of pucks on net & a lot of easy opps for the Wings on turnovers. I don't think the netminders can be as great as last gm. nor the posts as forgiving, therefore the over 5 pucks. I know the Pens haven't lost @ the Igloo since 2/24 but either they have to lose or Therrien wakes up from his fog & I lose-there is no we. RDS Sorry Lionman, I call 'em as I see 'em. You may not like the pick but have to agree with most of the analysis. BOLD prediction as home ice is 3-0 & 2-0-1 to the under in the series so far. There it is fellas, you can believe me or Ben Burns.
:lolBIG:

Here is my writeup and free premium play for today on the Mets/Dodgers Game.

NY Mets +1.05 (4 Unit Play) - These teams have split the first two games of this series but you can see that the Mets have awoken by their play lately. Although they lost last night the Mets have scored 25 runs in the past 4 games and they may get another component back today in Ryan Church who has been out with a concussion. The Mets have Mike Pelfrey on the hill and he is basically pitching for a spot here today as the Mets are activating Pedro Martinez on Tuesday and someone will have to be sent down to the minors to make room. Pelfrey has been horrible as the Mets have went only 2-7 in his starts but he does have a 3.60 ERA at Shea which is nearly 1.75 runs better than his overall ERA. This will be his first career appearance against the Dodgers and I expect a big performance from him today. The Dodgers are countering with Chad Billingsley and he has pitched well against the Mets but he has some key factors going against him here today. Billingsley is 0-5 in his starts with HP umpire Tim Welke and the Dodgers are also only 2-8 in the last 10 games with Welke behind the plate. The Mets have been playing much better baseball than the Dodgers and getting them as a home underdog here seems too good to be true. I will take the Mets in this afternoon tilt here.
