Not sure what day of the week it was. Just remember that, being a knuckleballer, he often started on 2 days rest, which is why he had 44 decisions one season. The White Sox were full of gimmicks in the 70's. Starting both games of a doubleheader was one of many. Who can forget Disco Demolition Night with Steve Dahl that resulted in the White Sox having to forfeit game 2 of a doubleheader vs the Tigers. Also, White Sox players wore shorts a few times one season -- not exactly a fashion statement for bulky 1st baseman Lamar Johnson. The exploding scorebard...the shower in the center field bleachers in old Comiskey Park...Harry Caray announcing from the bleachers occasionally...Falstaff Beer...lots of memories...

A couple good guesses for Dick Allen but not what I'm referring to. I think he did hit one into the 445 foot bleachers though. As for roof shots, not sure if Allen did this, but Fisk, Kittle, and Luzinski made a habit of it later on, so it's not that rare an accomplishment.
Back to the Allen feat, as a further clue, he did this twice in one game. Any more guesses?

Back to Lamar Johnson, the guy absolutely wore out Baltimore...He seemed to get a hit every other time up for years! He was like Bonds is against everyone ! He killed the Orioles...

Hy Picasso, do you remember Britt Burns and his habit of his hat falling off when he pitched LMAO...the guys hat would sometimes fall off after every throw, it was hysterical...they had some good pitchers in the early 80`s Hoyt, Dotson, Burns and Bannister....I thought Dotson was going to be a great one but he didn`t last long

Yes, I remember Britt Burns well. He was ok, but never lived up to all the hype. In the division winning 1983 season (the first Chicago division since the Sox in '59; Cubs won their division in '84), the White Sox had a starting rotation of Hoyt (24-10), Dotson (22-7), Bannister (16-10), Burns, and Koosman.
They started the season 16-24 and it looked like another typical baseball season in Chicago. But something changed, best coined by Texas' manager Rader, originator of the phrase "Winning Ugly". They finished the season at 99-63. Played Baltimore in the playoffs and won game 1 in Baltimore. Lost games 2 and 3. Britt Burns started and pitched a great game 4. Unfortunately for Sox fans, Chicago couldn't score either. Tito Landrum wound up hitting a 3-run homer in the top of the 9th or 10th as the Orioles won 3-0 to end the series.
This was such a memorable season for Chicagoans because the city had literally won nothing since the Bears in '63. It preceded the Bears Super Bowl in '85-'86 and was well before the Bulls' run in the 90's. Unfortunately, it ended in disappointment for diehards like myself.

The O`s dropped game 1 it was a very very bizarre weather afternoon...we saw sunshine , some snow showers and heavy rain ,then ending in sunshine...The Orioles dropped game one, Mike Boddicker threw a gem in game two, in Chicago for game 3 Eddie Murray hit a 3 run homer in the 1st inning after being knocked down, their was a near brawl!!!

Hoyt has made a comeback in real life, he is now clean and sober.
