If the race was 1 mile or 7 furlongs neither could beat Dr. Fager!

Dr Fager was a favorite of mine...was there the day he beat my horse Fort Marcy in the U.N. Handicap in Atlantic City...1968, was a junior in high school...

Secretariat would have beaten him at any distance, even though the Doctor had the world record at a mile...Dr.Fager was the favorite that day and I thought Fort Marcy could overtake him...

Rousing, heartwarming, and squarely traditional, Secretariat offers exactly what you'd expect from an inspirational Disney drama -- no more, and no less.

A life-affirming, if saccharine, epic treatment of a spirit-lifting figure in sports history.

We were at Aqueduct when 3 great race horses ran in I think the Woodward in 68 or 69, it was at 1 1/4 miles. Dr. Fager, Buckpasser & Damascus (all Horses of the year 66-68) all fired from the gates & in the end Damascus won by a mile. Dr. Fager & Damascus dueled 4 or 5 times at a mile or less it was Dr. Fager further distances it was Damascus. I check out you tube and you can see the rivalry there.

Lets put it this way Dr. Fager was the greatest racehorse of the 60's and Secretariat the best in the 70's.
