The way he stated it, where he stated it, his choice of words was wrong BUT there is no legitimate reason for them to be there and to be honored but to guarantee an applause and to promote how america you are. It was not the forum for something like that. If he wanted to honor him and his wife there are literally thousands of other ways / and places he could have done so. He used her to get the audience on his side by a no risk feel good positive play.
