Race 1 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 86 - 274 / $495.80 BEST BETS: 13 - 21 / $46.80

Best Bet: NUNCIO (2nd)

Spot Play: ALEX BULLVILLE (5th)

Race 1

(4) BEDROOMCONFESSIONS was a good second in her first pari-mutuel start and can build on that effort. (3) JK SHESALADY bested the top choice last time but loses her driver, who is driving at The Meadows and Northfield on Saturday. (1A) DIVINE CAROLINE has yet to show it, but she has some ability.

Race 2

(1A) NUNCIO lays over this field and should win for fun. (6) REVRAC HARBOUR was in over his head in the Dancer. This spot should be up his alley; second best. (10) MONTALBANO BI has only been worse than second once in five starts this year. (5) SOUTHWIND POSEIDON is on a roll lately.

Race 3

(3) A FOOL FOR MARK faces a blank field and has no excuse not to step up with a big effort. (5) SHAMDEROCK has been off his game but I’ve seen Corey Callahan wake up worse horses. (7) LEG UP consistently closes for a piece each week; exotics must. (9) ITTAKESTWOBABY won at this level three starts back.

Race 4

(4) JOHNNY Z raced okay last time and faces a very sour group. (1) ON THE RADAR has posted back-to-back 1:50 miles; very dangerous. (10) ONLY THE LONELY has the speed to overcome the bad draw; chance.

Race 5

(8) ALEX BULLVILLE has a win and a second on the two occasions Callahan has driven him this year. Veteran should prove tough on Saturday. (5) SPECIAL T ROCKS was an expensive private purchase a couple of years back and hasn’t produced much in the way of results. Still, the back class is there. (2) J C ONTHEBEACH is well drawn and down in class. (9) SIR RICHARD Z TAM could be a threat with a smooth trip.

Race 6

(9) THAT’S MY OPINION was gelded prior to his last qualifier and seems to mind his manners nicely. He should dominate this field. (1) ROCKEYED OPTIMIST draws well and should chase the top one for minor spoils. (8) ROCKNROLL REALITY has been racing well and should be considered in the exacta.

Race 7

(8) I AM BONASERA tracked and pounced in his second qualifier. Veteran doesn’t race often but has always been fast. (7) ONTARIO SUCCESS comes off a win versus a slightly easier group. (1) MIGHTY YOUNG JOE has given an honest effort just about every week. (4) GALLANT SEELSTER picked up some confidence on the class drop last time. (3) UP UP AND OUT wouldn’t be a complete shock in a wide open race.

Race 8

(6) LAST SHOT LEETON seems to be in better form than his PP lines would indicate. Gelding drops down in class and should be forwardly placed. (1) OPEN WATER was used in the early pace and wilted last time; another shot. (2) WILLY MUCHA comes off a pair of second-place finishes against these C-2 types. (7) AXIOM HANOVER can step up with a big mile from time to time.

Race 9

(1) RELENTLESS DREAMER draws well enough that he can stay within striking position and make his patented late move. (2) BALLINROBE finds himself in the basement condition this week and Callahan figures to have a big say with this gelding. (3) BUCKEYE IN CHARGE got a much needed month off prior to this start. If he is ready, he can win.

Race 10

(7) DON’T BLAME HER picks up a new driver and sometimes that makes a huge difference. (5) ALWAYS ON A ROLL should be a big player in the outcome. (1) RX JOLT comes off an improved effort.

Race 11

(3) GOLDEN RECEIVER made an uncharacteristic break last time. If he minds his manners he could go down the road at a price. (4) ROCKIN AMADEUS figures to leave for position and sit a good trip either first or second; Callahan’s choice. (6) ODDS ON EQUULEUS needs a bit of pace help to get the job done.

Race 12

(4) TRIXTON shouldn’t have any trouble disposing of this group. (6) SPEAK THE TRUTH has yet to realize his talent but isn’t as bad as the PP lines say. If he wants to aim for the Hambo, he better show up tonight. (10) DATSYUK is clearly second best on paper but has been a speedball and must negotiate the second tier.

Race 13

(10) LORRIE PLEASE drops to the basement and really should wake up against this field; expecting her to gun off the wings tonight. (7) ELLEOFNXAMPLE raced well at this level last time and should be tough. (8) KZ BEACH GIRL has speed and some form. (3) JARNAC should be used in your trifectas and superfectas.

Race 10 - $20,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (27 - 47 / $111.00): TIME OUTA JAIL (2nd)

Spot Play: FOX VALLEY AMANDA (6th)

Race 1

(9) DUPAGE'S Z TAM closed a ton of ground in his debut and has the breeding to be a real good one. (8) GOLD STAR IMAGE two-year-old Indiana bred had pace on both ends of the mile last out; threat. (5) FAAVAAS has slowly shown improvement and will offer a big price in an inexperienced field full of question marks.

Race 2

(4) TIME OUTA JAIL has been facing much tougher and finds a spot to gain some confidence. (2) BOBBY B BREEZE gelding gets a good post and should be sitting a nice trip with his tactical gate speed. (8) CARDINAL WIND was the driver's choice and owns a good late kick but will need some pace up front to close into.

Race 3

(6) LEX filly looks to have the jump on the rest of the 2-year-olds owning a big burst of speed. (2) DUNESIDE SPLASH makes her third lifetime start and has plenty of room to improve. (4) FOX VALLEY REDHEAD filly could be the only threat to the top choice but just raced evenly in her last after being sharp prior.

Race 4

(4) FOX VALLEY CUPID gelding would have to hit a brick wall late to not score his second lifetime win; short price. (10) MYSTICAL SHOOTER has been facing much tougher and could be a candidate to pick up the pieces if the favorite can't ration out his speed. (6) BLUE RIVER has yet to take the next step forward but has flashed some ability; use underneath.

Race 5

In a field with few contenders (4) EARNDAWG will be out to settle the score with the favorite and will be much closer turning for home. (3) LUCPARK scored off a perfect trip last out and will be used aggressively; threat. (2) GET YOUR CAMO ON was super in the qualifier before the miscue in his debut.

Race 6

(5) FOX VALLEY AMANDA filly has really blossomed in her last few starts; threat. (4) M A DUTY was the driver's choice, gets a great post, and has flashed a big burst of speed. (1a) MOLLY GO LIGHTLY has some excuses and could upset at a price with a smooth trip.

Race 7

(4) DAKOTA ROADSTER was an overlay last out winning for fun but the secret could be out. (2) KING OF THE SWAMP has some starts under his belt and was much improved in his last; threat. (6) GETT'ER DONE DUNE was up against it from the worst post on a small track in her last effort. The 2-year-old colt is on a level playing field this week and will be cranking it up late.

Race 8

(8) BEST MAN HANOVER went a jaw dropping effort off the layoff taking no prisoners. If the well bred gelding races back to that the field is in trouble. (6) HOLDINGALLTHECARDS has yet to regain his 2013 form but has been consistently pacing big miles against tough opponents. (10) UNLOCKED faces older and gets the worst post. The pacer could be using the race as a tune-up for a different spot. However the 3-year-old owns a wicked burst of speed and could hit the board even racing from the back.

Race 9

(5) IN OVER MY HEAD is versatile and could be the sleeper in the field with some racing luck. (7) AL'S HAMMERED comes off a scratch and a hasn't raced in a few weeks but has been unstoppable when they turn for home; fires late. (6) TIME TO ROLL was the driver's choice and will be blasting off the gate; threat.

Race 10

(2) UNCLE UGLY came up empty last out after crushing the field the start prior. The gelding will look to rebound at a better price. (9) LENNOX BLUE CHIP has yet to win on the year but is racing better than his lines indicate. (4) BLOOMING GENIUS made a break last out but a good effort puts him in the mix.

Race 11

(3) BIG DADDY WOO WOO makes his third start back off a long layoff and should be ready for a big effort. (8) FANCY CREEK ELUSIV will look to score his first victory of the year down in class; big chance. (9) DODGER can really fly late but needs the right setup; use underneath.

Race 12

(7) TOTAL SIN will offer a big price and should love the long stretch; threat. (6) ROLLINLIKEAHOTSHOT impeccably bred 3-year-old could be ready to put together a nice win streak and has shown signs of stepping his game up. (5) SUMMER SHANDY will look to make it four wins in four starts but faces a very tough task.

Race 13

(7) ROCKIN RUMBLE owns some back class and should offer a great price coming off a miscue. (8) FURIOUS FRANK has blazing gate speed and just needs to ration it out for a shot late. (1) BLUEBIRD CHEETAH is just now rounding back into form off a layoff and gets a the best post.

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: SEBASTIAN K (9th)

Spot Play: JET TRACKER (13th)

Race 1

(6) URBANITE HANOVER gets class relief, comes from a good barn and was timed in 1:50 3/5 in his latest. (7) MACHAL JORDAN is a much better horse than he's been showing. He has the speed and drops in class once again. (2) THE REV gets post relief this week and just missed in his latest by a nose.

Race 2

(3) HARPER BLUE CHIP looks like the best in here on paper. He gets a good post and won last weeks elim at ease. (6) MUSCLE MATTERS has hit the board in both starts this season, comes from the Baillargeon barn and has excellent gate-speed. (9) JITTERBUG failed as the favourite last start and is capable of overcoming post nine with Tetrick.

Race 3

(3) WHITE BECOMES HER has risen to be a main threat in the provincial program as of late with three straight wins. (1) TOSCA was a game second alst week at high odds and gets Tetrick in the bike. (2) MAYBERRY has been much better in her last two starts and shouldn't get overlooked for the triactor.

Race 4

(9) NICKLE BAG won two back and was timed in sub-1:50 in his latest. (2) GRIN FOR MONEY gets major post relief and drops in class. (1) CHAMPAGNE PHIL has hit the board in each of his last three starts with a pair of sub-1:50 efforts.

Race 5

(5) VEAL MARSALA was a game third in his latest and he may come as a price. (9) JDS CALEB MAN is fresh off a win at this level, comes from a high percentage trainer and has a lot of upside. (1) VAL AMERICA draws inside and just missed in his latest, by a length. He finally draws well and should provide a price in this same level.

Race 6

(3) RESISTANCE FUTILE draws inside, comes from the Burgess barn and gets major class relief. (7) LUCAN HANOVER has yet to find the winner's circle this season from eight starts, but is hard to leave off the exactor. (1) UPFRONT HOOSIERBOY draws inside and hasn't missed the board in four starts for trainer Johnson.

Race 7

(4) BOOMBOOM BALLYKEEL has won two straight, enjoys leaving the gate and may offer a fair price in this wide-open final. (3) SILVERHILL SHADOW captured his elim last week, comes from the Moore barn and is fresh off a career best. (8) HUNCH MAN was flying late last start and has a lot of versatility to offer.

Race 8

(6) PISTON BROKE exploded last week en route to victory with a sizzling :25 final quarter. In a short field, you can only expect the same tactics from Zeron. (5) CAPTIVE AUDIENCE returns home, comes out of the Johnson barn and has paced three straight sub-1:49 efforts. (3) EVENIN OF PLEASURE draws inside and has yet to miss the board in five straight.

Race 9

(1) SEBASTIAN K draws inside, remains undefeated in four starts this season and is the best free-for-all trotter in North America right now. (2) MARKET SHARE is the defending champ and is the next logical option after winning last weeks elim. (6) MISTER HERBIE captured this event in 2012 and has been knocking on the door in each of his three starts this season.

Race 10

(4) LADY SHADOW was power driven last week and put forth a sizzling performance. She's the filly to beat based on last week’s elim. (2) SUDOKU comes from the O'Sullivan barn, enjoys racing off-the-pace and captured her elim last week. (3) MY SECRET BELLE has won three of her last four, draws inside and is a logical option for the triactor.

Race 11

(7) MICHAELS POWER comes from the Coleman barn, drops in class and is a much better horse than he's been showing. (6) MYSTICAN drops in class once again, comes from the Gillis barn and has $1.8 million of back class. Race 13

(7) JET TRACKER might offer a fair price in the finale. He has the speed and is capable of a big effort. (3) SHADIOS draws inside and has won two straight. He likely will be the post time favourite. (5) JACKSON BRADY comes out of the Summertime Series and faces a much easier field.

DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 207 - 612 / $1082.80 BEST BETS: 36 - 50 / $116.50

Best Bet: HERE WE GO AGAIN (2nd)

Spot Play: MAY DAY (3rd)

Race 1

(3) ROCK TO GLORY picks up the more aggressive Brennan in the bike tonight and this gelding is better than he's been showing. (4) MOJO TERROR has never been on of my favorites but he looks like he fits well in this spot. (2) ALITTLEAINTENOUGH had no chance last out; his prior three efforts from inside posts have been decent.

Race 2

(8) HERE WE GO AGAIN is simply better than these and he's got the early speed to easily overcome the eight hole. (6) MONEY TWITCH A also gets some class relief here and he should be more involved. (1) TREND SPOTTER appears good enough to tail along for a share.

Race 3

(7) MAY DAY was a very good second to a runaway winner in his local return and assuming an alert getaway from Bartlett he should be poised to return to the winner's circle. (3) TRACK MASTER D came up a bit short from the pocket last week; he can be better tonight. (2) BOX CAR JOHNNIE raced pretty well last out chasing the easy front-end winner.

Race 4

(1) JUSTIFIED was outgamed trying to go down the road versus better last out; Burke trainee can last the distance tonight. (5) TOBAGO CAYS hasn't shown early speed recently but he can power off the gate. (3) GAMBLERS TALE drops in class and should be close throughout.

Race 5

(2) IN THE ARSENAL looked very professional for a youngster making his second lifetime start when he coasted in last week's elimination. He's got a post edge on main rival (5) CARTOON DADDY and that could make the difference in this lucrative final. The latter quarter-moved and was never seriously threatened in his initial trip here and the Burke trainee can only be stronger tonight. (7) LONE SURVIVOR looked comfortable finishing second in his elimination. He faces a tough task tonight from the outside spot but he could spice up the exotics.

Race 6

(3) THE REAL ONE sat and never really got involved last week upon hiking to this class. If Lachance is in a good striking spot I think this gelding is talented enough to get the job done. (6) HESTON BLUE CHIP picks up Sears in his local return and he fits here in this competitive event. (7) ALLSTAR LEGEND hails from Burke, has been facing some tough ones all season and he must be considered.

Race 7

(5) FRANKIES DRAGON was outbattled late after sitting a pocket trip in his latest effort; O'Sullivan trainee appears ready to score. (2) PANONGAHELA steps back down to a more realistic level and he lands a good post. (1) GRAB YOUR KEYS seems to have found the fountain of youth in his last few efforts.

Race 8

(6) GREAT VINTAGE always gives 100% and he should be firing out from this spot. (3) THIRTY TWO RED held very well late after being passed last week. (5) BIG N BAD has done little wrong in his last handful of efforts.

Race 9

(6) FRAMED ART was going nowhere last week from post eight. Tonight he gets both class and post relief and will be much more involved. (2) BJ'S GUY returns off a sharp closing effort at Saratoga and he was a winner with these three back. (1) JACKED UP and regained his form out of town and he draws best with Sears driving.

Race 10

(1) TWIN B HOLLISTER double-jumps in class off a solid effort and he may be sharp enough to take this. (5) NEPTUNE drops back down to a more competitive level. (6) RAMPAGE JACKSON debuts for Brainard and exits claimers; Bartlett might be forwardly placed with him.

Race 11

(3) DALLENBACH HANOVER has taken two straight in handy fashion. Classy gelding is sharp now and can reel off a couple more wins. (1) ONE THROUGH TEN has speed and the rail; Carlson should try to work out a pocket trip. (2) RONNY BUGATTI is good, but he's been a bit camera-shy recently.

Race 12

(1) NOB HILL HIGH lands inside again this week and this classy millionaire is impossible to ignore from spots such as this. (6) GLASS PRINCE has remained relatively sharp for an extended period of time; interesting that Stratton chose him over the top choice. (5) VOICE OF TRUTH ships in off some sharp efforts in Pennsylvania.

Bonus Play Saturday 7:05 PM MLB

(903) COLORADO ROCKIES at (904) PITTSBURGH PIRATES

Take: (904) PITTSBURGH PIRATES -150

Regular followers of my Bonus Plays know that I don’t generally recommend bigger favorites. But I’ll have to line up with one of those pieces tonight as the Rockies continue their series with the Pirates.

Brett Anderson is on the hill for Colorado tonight, and this is mostly a stance against the veteran lefty. Anderson made his first start off his most recent DL stint last Sunday, and it wasn’t pretty as he got drilled by the Twins. I make Anderson a candidate to get hit hard again tonight.

I might normally simply attribute a bad first start off the disabled list to rust, and that’s even with a minor league rehab stint thrown in. But it’s not the fact that Anderson got his clock cleaned that has me skeptical of his ability to get hitters out at this point. It’s having watched the carnage take place, and then following that up by viewing his charts from the game. Anderson set a career low with his fastball velocity in that Sunday game with the Twins, and I find that very troubling. The fact the game was at Coors means little to me. He’d have been hit hard in any ballpark with what he was throwing last weekend.

Charlie Morton will go for the Pirates tonight. Morton has not been very lucky this season, but there’s actually quite a bit to like about the quality of most of his recent efforts. Plus, most of Morton’s problems have come on the road. He’s been impressive at PNC and tonight he gets to face a Rockies entry that is not exactly murderer’s row on the road.

Aside from the starting pitchers, this is still a strong spot for the Pirates. The Colorado season pretty much concluded with that awful run of injuries, and the phony success the bullpen enjoyed early in the campaign gave way to reality some time ago. The Rockies are a bad team at this point, while the Pirates have worked their way back into the playoff chase following a very slow start to the season.

I actually think this number is short by a dime, perhaps a bit more. It shapes up to me as a game the Bucs are supposed to win, and I obviously have no problem at all trying to beat what should be a shaky Anderson. I’ll look to lay the price with the Pirates tonight.
