Also lets be honest, until the Rice footage went viral, domestic violence just wasn't a very big issue in sports. It was mostly you'll get a little suspension but we'll let the legal system handle it.

Guys have just always gotten off easy punishment wise for that type of stuff.

Honestly that is personally how I think it should be. I don't think it's the NFL's place to police policy off the field. I understand why they do, but if it was so damaging to demand for the product on the field, the TEAM should handle it. They are his employer.

I think chop was referring more to how it was handled and botched every single step of the way.. Not so much the DV part?

How can you suspend someone for something someone else might have done, with no proof they asked them to do what might have been done which they can't prove..

Yet another good point.

This whole thing about deflating freakin balls might be the most ridiculous & petty thing a team and player has ever been branded & possibly reprimanded for in the history of sports.

It basically boils down to too many haters in the league pushing it due to not liking the Patriots's sucess thru the years...

Nah, it boils down to someone cheating, lying about it, and getting caught.

And I'm not even a Patriot hater.

Yeah I just meant in general when someone might get suspended for weed, bountygate, whatever people always say "Oh so and so beat their girl and only got _____"

But that moreso has to do with the DV thing just wasn't really as big a deal until people had video to go with it.

Yes this.
Atlanta pumping fake crowd noise was no more or less evil then this was but the outrage is 10x worse.

I wonder what Goodell would say if Brady tells him that if he gets suspended over alleged accusations (that have not been proven), then he will retire.

I really think Brady and his people could have a field day in court with this one...

Funny how these nfl fans work: don't believe a word and dismiss entire mueller report on rice investigation.. Believe and don't question one word or motive of wells report.

Ok got it.

I agree with this statement.

Unfortunately the burden of proof is "more probable than not"

Brady could threaten to retire though.....like Brady or not, that could be a major nail in the coffin of Goodells career.

Far from a Pats fan... But it Didn't even Help them win the game. The balls were found at halftime and they still scored 28 Unanswered points in the 2nd half
I understand they were still leading at the half. But Luck ( The Greatest according to Vlad ) Sucked Donkey Balls !!

If the balls were as flat as a Pancake, Pats still would have won

I look at it like a punter taking steroids. If a punter fails a drug test, he gets suspended b/c he's getting a "competitive edge" no matter how large or small it is.
It's not like all backups who get zero playing time are allowed to break the rules even though they have zero impact on the game. YOu can't say "well he's the 3rd string and they would have won anyways so why are you punishing him?"

People are joking that Brady retiring would hurt the league? The league did just fine before him and will continue on just fine without him. Nobody outside of NE gives a fuck about Brady.

So Ray Rice gets 2 games for caving his wife's face in with a punch in an elevator. But "probably" requesting someone lower the PSI of a football gets you a half a dozen games from Goodell? Good God...No wonder the NFL has an image problem

And don't you think that Roger Goodell "probably" knew of the Ray Rice elevator footage prior to the initial suspension and prior to it being publicly released?

Oh Yeah...Roger "PROBABLY" knew.
