My first experience with BHB in 2002 was great as you allowed winnings to be withdrawn and had decent limits on wagers. Even some of the people Ive ran into on this forum were making huge wagers with you guys with no worry of getting paid if they won. At some point in the 2003 baseball season I believe you implemented a policy to lower everyones wagering limit. Combine that with 20cent lines and a 4x rollover before any payout and that would explain my lack of interest to play here even though I did lose a couple of reloads in july.Personally, I would deposit 5,000 right now with you guys if you gave me 15% cash with a 6x rollover,30 day hold on the bonus and deposit, BUT a wagering limit of at least 3,000 on all events and the ability to withdraw winnings. Is that asking too much?

Some like the *illusion* of having extra $$$ in their accounts as opposed to better prices.

BHB,
Honestly it's the excesive bonuses. I'll admit I've NEVER EVER heard a bad experince in terms of getting paid at BHB, but I really don't trust the "bonus whore" business model.

Sorry. I still like you guys though.

I stopped sending money to BHB since they pulled that crap on the football contest.

sue-

my post was actually not normal for me since i am usually longwinded but BHB is trying to improve their business which i respect so i will give a bit more detail:

1) why pay full juice when reduced is available
2) other books have been in the business longer and your book doesn't seem (on the surface) to offer anything that i cannot get at a book with a more established reputation and lower prices

bhb-
i'm do not think there is room in the industry for as many books that exist today. i'm sure i'm oversimplifying it but i would think for a new book to be successful it would have to offer something the others don't. your cust service may be tops but is cust service something that the players in the industry find so appalling that they move to a different book?

additionally, it comes down to customer segmentation. the reduced juice shops appeal to me since i'm a more mathmatical, low limit, no frills bettor who wants to lower the house edge as much as possible. props don't really appeal to me and my interaction with cs is minimal unless there is a problem. even at that i think most cs people are idiots so i would prefer not to deal with them anyway. you can contrast that to a high roller player who wants to talk to someone over the phone to place bets.

in all lines of business there is room for the premium provider and the low cost operator. if you charge a higher price you must provide a premium product targeted at the right audience.

for example, i may prefer lower vig shops for wagering and buy generic brand dinner napkins but i still carry amex and wear an expensive watch. some would argue that im a walking contradiction but it comes down to the things I value.

it would seem that your model of good customer service and good bonuses may not appeal to the right customer base. i don't know your business that well but the folks who value customer service the MOST are probably not the guys who care too much about bonuses. of course there are bettors who make bets of 20 bucks a game want sweet bonuses and demand stellar customer service but those are the types of players you don't want.

overall, i think this thread is great and you will gather some great informAtion. just remember the source of the post and the type of player each poster is since it will give you a clue about who you are dealing with. i gave you more information than necessary just to help you profile me as a poster providing feedback. GOOD LUCK.

one last thing bhb, i do have accounts at places like yours for various reasons but over time i always go back to the shops with the best prices for my play. i try some of the other books but in the end, they just cannot deliver on their value proposition (if they even have one).

Give something different that most others don't have.I.E squares ($10,$25,$50 etc) for every Sunday 1pm 4pm 8:30pm and Monday games. Offer alternate spreads on games with accompanying difference in payout.Fantasy football player contests, King of Hill contests half season full season. Just some thoughts on how to be different. Of course the reduced vig on games has been mentioned so no need to go over that again.

I would say a big reason alot of people don't is because they can place the same wagers at other places with less juice.

If you guys went to -107 you would be one of the top 10 offshore books IMO.

Not having reduced juice is my main reason for not playing there anymore. It is so tough to beat the vig anyway that I seek solid books with the lowest vig like pinnacle, hollywood and canbet. If your vig was lower,I would deposit again in a heartbeat.

I have an account there but haven't re-upped because you don't offer moneylines in HOCKEY.
For the pucks bettor, this is a must.

I appreciate all the feed back from you all. Seems that reduced juice and 20c lines for bases seem to be the biggest reason. This is definately something to consider and once again I appreciate all the comments.
