Well Oregon is officially rebuilding. Time to buckle up for a 6-6 season. They are awful. No way around it. Need a serious overhaul and I think hoke can do it, but it will be a challenge. Still not sure if helfrich is the guy in all honesty.

15-13-1 ats. Waiting on Washington, Louisville, Stanford, ok state and army still. Bol guys, hope it's better than mine

Oregon is done, they may lose 6 games or more this year and may not win a conference game all season.

that being said they need to score second half and they know it.

Oregon TT second half over -19.5
biggest play of the year. I've been betting all 1 unit plays so far but this is a 5 unit play. I think they lose but under them scoring 24 points in the second half. Bol guys

I'm almost afraid to go to next weeks game. face)(*^%
it could get UGLY really fast. I know Oregon is pretty young but I'm amazed that they've not recruited and developed a QB. Think of all the guys they had starting with Musgrave, Chris Miller and going through Harrington, Dixon, Thomas, and Marriota. They always had 2 guys pressing one another for playing time. Same with RB's in the backfield. With all the facilities and money, they have no excuse for letting the cupboard get bare up there. I know Oregon does not fire coaches, but it seems like it's going in the opposite direction at this point.

Miss three straight years with your #1 QB recruit and you end up with the mess they have right now.

22-20 ats and a big unit loss by half point lol.... Go figure the two point conversions got me lol.. Unreal.

heres my thing men-

this issue is much deeper than surface level. I understand the injuries, I understand the youth on the offensive line, but I don't understand the coaching decisions and below average recruiting. I don't understand the "clap it off" strategy by helfrich. There's a sever lack of killer instinct, the urgency is gone, the talent is dissipating, and the qb problem is eye popping.

maybe Herbert or Wilson or even jonsen is the right guy but it's become a gigantic issue nonetheless. Continuing to start prukop is not the answer, but if you're going to then you need to do a 2:1 or even 1:1 ratio with snap time between prukop and another qb. The young guys need time and experience in order to take the reigns for future years. The fact that oregons defensive recruiting has been so bad is the problem. Player development hasn't ever been an issue in all honesty. Oregon has turned many underrated guys into nfl players, but the defensive side of the ball is so bare on the front seven they are getting lit up on the ground by air raid offenses. That's just flat out embarrassing and unacceptable. It's not hoke's fault, or any of the defensive coaches fault. They are working with a couple guys who can play and the rest wouldn't start for fcs programs. It's just the truth.

firing helfrich now may cause more harm than good with the recruiting because it scares recruits away as we all know. So he deserves Time to rigt the ship, but things need to change and he has to do something drastic in the philosophy department or playing time department to make sure he's showing the administration and fam base he's at least trying something else. Whatever this is, it's not working and Oregon is about to become the laughing stock of college football and that will cause itchy trigger fingers from everyone only increasing stress and tension. As crazy at it sounds I think Oregon has to basically change their scheme defensively and just sell out on getting pressure and stopping the run. Play 8 in the box and blitz more, you honestly can't play any worse than they are now. The mentality has to change defensively and I know hoke is trying to do so along with the other position coaches but it's not sticking.

offensively the Nelson experiment is not a good fit and I said that from the beginning, he's a natural hitter and a ball hawk, he showed that last season with a couple picks and a game with 15 tackles; he plays fearless. Let him continue to return punts and kicks tho. The offense is sluggish and the running backs are the only highlight rigt now. The TEs are barely being used and that's just a joke. Prukop is gritty but he's clearly out of his element and it's now obvious. I thought he would do well because of his savvy and ability to run the ball, but I was wrong. He is overmatched with the speed and complexity. Herbert looked better in one drive than prukop has almost all season. That's not good.

if the ducks can't show progress by the end of the season than I think it's ok to start looking outside at some big name coaches. There's a lengthy list that would love the Oregon job, I can guarantee that. Too many to list in all honesty, but money isn't an issue. Whoever it is whether helfrich or someone else tho, they need to instill some nastiness back into the program.

Taking Washington -8.5 (5 units in hopes of making back the 5 I lost Saturday on the ducks second half play)

I feel like Vegas is playing an EVIL trick on everyone opening Washington as only an -8.5 favorite lol. I've watched every game this year and the biggest mismatch in this matchup isn't between the players or what's going on between the sidelines, it's on the sidelines itself.

Plaind and simple peterson is the best coach in the conference and it's really not that close. I hope I lose this bet horribly so I can enjoy and Oregon win against the huskies, again, but it just won't happen. Oregon is broken down, beat to hell, on a monumental slide past mediocrity to the cellar unless there's some sort of change in philosophy and mentality in the next 5 days. I said in my last post that firing helfrich isn't the best option, but if he doesn't at least start keepin games competitive and keeps getting blown out, he will get fired. It's just the nature of the beast. Oregon may not win a game the rest of the season, but they have to be in every one of them if he want to keep his job and the fan base on his side.

thats asking for a miracle. Washington is basically a killer whale playing with an injured baby seal here before they eat it..... This game could be a straight up massacre from start to finish; and Washington has every reason and all the motivation to lay it on THICK at autzen and essentially embarrass the entire program, administration and fan base...... Whether or not Peterson will do that tho, I'm not sure..... He had Oregon ties and wanted the job, but Oregon passed on him for helfrich.... This is likely a public flogging and execution, and I'm expecting the worst case scenario.

Washington 56 Oregon 17

on a side note I'm predicting helfrich to get fired after he loses control of the team and gets beat by 20+ at cal.... Not saying I agree with it, but I could definitely see it happen

It would be inhumane to allow Helfrich to suffer.
He needs to be beheaded.

I used to own a house in Coos Bay where Helfrich is from.
When I first moved up here, I couldn't help but notice that
the locals had some kind of group flaw. Mentally slow. It
runs rampant. I call it "Oregon Stupid." The way Helfrich
gets ambushed because of his failure to prepare, he is
"Oregon Stupid."

Ive never felt helfrich was the right "fit" for the job. He always seemed to cchipper and upbeat for me. May sound weird to most but in elite level sports you have to be cutthroat and willing to do whatever it takes to win and bring home a championship. Helfrich survived off the Kelly era and recruits. Kelly brought some hard nose players in, undersized maybe, but crazy athletic with chips on their shoulders. He made the guys earn their keeps. Helfrich claps everything off and just keeps saying its on me. I'm tired of it. I was tired of it last year. He ALWAYS looks like he's confused, yet trying to coach players up at the same time. Here I am thinking why don't you wear your players out when they make a mistake and let them know it's not acceptable. Most of that program and players have been complacent and are now just waking up to the fact that they are well below average. Plain and simple, it's to late.... They've lost the killer instinct, mentality, moxie, and identity.... Helfrich isn't the answer but I'm afraid of what happens to their recruits when they axe him

Quack, what do you have for me on Prukop being benched for Herbert? I know the kid is a True Frosh, but I have to think it is a good move....Prukop not the worst by any means, but consistently missed receivers and not very good on the option keep imo

Yeah I think Herbert is good but I'm really unsure of just how good he can be. No one really knows what his ceiling is because he is from eugene and basically knew he was playing for Oregon his whole life. He was good in high school but not phenomenal or a top 100 guy. Does that mean he wasn't, no, recruiting services swing and miss all the time. I think Herbert is interesting to say the least. He has a big arm, which we haven't seen since Mariota; he also moves ok but is more of a passer than a guy who can extend a play naturally and create. I just think with Herbert it's an odd fit right now. He's almost 6'6 and while he moves well for his size, like I said he's a passer first. So I think this is weird because typically Oregon needs a very mobile qb or at least a scrambler like VA to make things click. I think jonsen transfers after this season and I'd be more interested to see what happens with Herbert and terry Wilson jr next spring..... and dare I say Tua tagilavoa....

herbert is just an enigma to me; the hometown crowd loves him because he's a hometown kid, and while I like the feel good story I just don't know if he's truly capable to be the qb of 10+ win team on a national stage. Right now he's great because Oregon is a dumpster fire and he's not expected to win, but what happens next year after all this is over and Oregon is expected to win 7-8 games like they've been expected to for the last decade? Can he lead the team? I just don't know. Obviously the defense has to improve, and it will, trust me. Just too young, new coach and a new scheme. Not enough in the cupboards to make things happen this season. Play calling has lost its identity, tempo is awful and Oregon looks lost on many of its drives. I wasn't a fan of Scott frost as an OC, because I personally just didn't like his scheme or style, but at least he had an idea of what was going on, how to make adjustments and trusted the system. They really need to go back to the chip Kelly system, it would still work today if implemented correctly. Herbert or Wilson could master that system for sure.
