When is Mohegan Suns sportsbook going to be ready, and when will the online sports gambling be ready, at the same time or not

Mohegan Sun Pocono sportsbook formally debuts; Oct. 5 ribbon cutting set

PLAINS TWP. — Mohegan Sun Pocono’s new sports betting lounge is now formally open after securing Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approval, but the big party is yet to come.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the launch of the Unibet Sportsbook facility is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, with former Penn State Nittany Lion great, LaVar Arrington on hand, officials said, complemented by a guest list of senior leadership, local dignitaries, project partners and officials from Mohegan Sun Pocono’s parent company Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment.

The new 1,130-square-foot lounge is open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight, allowing patrons to bet on NFL, NCAA, NHL, NBA, PGA, professional tennis, boxing, UFC, rugby, NASCAR, MLS, Premier League Soccer, La Liga and Bundesliga.

The new Unibet Sportsbook is creating 12-14 new jobs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, including tellers, food and beverage servers and floor supervisors.

It is a partnership between Mohegan Sun Pocono andMalta-based Kindred Group, owner of the Unibet Sportsbook brand.

Located to the right of the casino’s main entrance near the valet, the lounge features seating for 40 or more guests, and includes six sports betting terminals, one racebook betting terminal, two teller booths, a walk-up food and beverage bar with service from Molly O’Shea’s Irish Pub & Eatery.

The room’s centerpiece is its 28-foot wide video wall, complete with a ticker at the top showing current scores and upcoming games.

Still to come is a Unibet online sportsbook service, which will be added at a date yet to be announced. It will be available via Apple and Android mobile devices, officials said.

If I had to rate the mobile/online books in Pa, from my experience & others I've talked to:

Fan Duel is the #1 mobile book......they have the best app hands down, not even close are the others.

Draft Kings is #2 in New Jersey & I've seen their app, it looks really good & I've talked to people that use it, so I would make them #2......they should be up & running in Oct in Pa.

Fox Bet has a better interface app than Sugarhouse, but Sugarhouse has a better bonus for first time sign up.

As far as bonuses go, Draft Kings seem to be some of the best around..........as of now, Fan Duel is my favorite mobile app & the sports book is so easy to manuever around & figure things out.

DraftKings Sportsbook Set To Go Live In PA On Nov. 4

The “King” has entered the Commonwealth.

DraftKings Sportsbook received conditional approval for a conditional sports wagering license during the Oct. 30 Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) meeting. DraftKings plans to soft-launch on Monday, Nov. 4, through Penn National’s license. It is Pennsylvania’s sixth online sportsbook.

Tim Dent, DraftKings’ chief compliance officer, confirmed the launch plans to PlayPennsylvania:

“DraftKings is excited to receive our Sports Wagering Operator License, moving us one step closer to bringing our top-rated online and mobile sportsbook app to sports fans in Pennsylvania. Working in partnership with the outstanding team at Penn National Gaming, we expect the mandatory soft-play period to begin on Nov. 4 toward the goal of an official public launch a few days later.”
The Meadows retail sportsbook already open
DraftKings will serve as The Meadows’ online sports wagering operator. The Meadows retail sportsbook received approval to open in early October and is operated in-house by Penn Interactive. The Meadows Sportsbook is located in the spot of the former Vibe Lounge. Penn National Gaming invested $1.4 million to renovate the space. The new, nonsmoking sportsbook creates 17 new jobs (11 full-time and six part-time jobs).

Penn National severs ties with William Hill
Last week, Hollywood Casino/Penn National Gaming officially announced the end of their PA partnership with bookmaker William Hill. The retail sportsbooks at Meadows Casino and Hollywood Casino are now powered by Kambi odds, said Scot McClintic, the vice president and head of sportsbook, at Penn National Gaming.

At the Wednesday PGCB meeting, Hollywood made the split from William Hill even more official by transferring the shared services agreement for sports betting over to its internal unit, Penn Interactive.

DraftKings already rules DFS
DraftKings has been operating regulated fantasy contests in Pennsylvania since the launch of daily fantasy sports in May 2018. It is PA’s top fantasy sports operator.

Head of Development at Penn National Chris Rodgers commented:

“We think DraftKings is an ideal partner for the Meadows. It’s a well-known, trusted brand. We expect them to be a market leader in Pennsylvania as well.”

Sports betting in PA hits record numbers
September 2019’s numbers reached record-highs for handle ($195 million) and revenue ($14.8 million), with more than 80% of wagers being placed online. More than half the bets took place on FanDuel, which is, far and away, the market leader.

PGCB Director of Communication Doug Harbach commented on the most recent sports betting monthly numbers:

“It shows that the legislature was right initiating sports wagering in PA. They knew it would be a substantial market both because of the interest in sports and the large population base. We expect those numbers will continue to grow because we are still at the beginning of launch and casinos getting a full customer base. We should see Pennsylvania possibly become a major, if not the major player in sports wagering in the months and years ahead.”

If New Jersey is any indication, DraftKings should present some competition. In the Garden State, the two DFS companies are also the top two sportsbook operators.
FanDuel Sportsbook Is Available In NJ, PA, WV & IN

Unibet Sportsbook And Casino Debuting Nov. 12 With A Massive Library Of Games

The Unibet Sportsbook app is launching in Pennsylvania just in time for the Philadelphia Eagles game against the New England Patriots.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17.

By then, Unibet will be all in on Pennsylvania sports betting.

Unibet confirmed exclusively to PlayPennsylvania that Nov. 12 is the soft-launch date; the platform will include the online casino that is integrated with the sports betting app.

Unibet said the initial casino launch would include 140 games, with another 150 to 200 scheduled to come online before the end of the year. If those games all go live as planned, Unibet will launch with, far and away, the biggest online casino library in the state, with almost twice as many titles as its next-closest competitors.

By comparison, here are the number of titles the other online casinos offer:

Hollywood Casino: 76
PlaySugarHouse Casino: 65
Parx Online Casino: 57
PokerStars Casino: 47
Android is ready; iOS is not
Customers will be able to wager via Android devices or web browser at pa.unibet.com. Android users can download the app directly from the website.

Meanwhile, iOS users will need to wait a little longer (there is no word on a target date).

Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) Director of Communications Doug Harbach said the plans are to staff a three-day test session beginning on Tuesday.

Barring any issues, customers will be able to place moneyline, point spread and parlay wagers on this Super Bowl LII rematch. Actually, there will be a full card of NFL betting.

First things first, here are the PA testing hours:

Tuesday, Nov. 12: Noon – 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 13: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 14: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Unibet Sportsbook is open at Mohegan Sun
The mobile launch is the next phase in the Keystone State plans. The first phase, of course, was opening the Unibet-branded sportsbook at Mohegan Sun Pocono in late September.

The space is 1,130 square feet.

Unibet, which is one of the bigger names in the Kindred Gaming portfolio, is well-established in Europe and Australia. In the US, the PA launch follows in the footsteps of neighboring New Jersey.

But in the Garden State, they only have a mobile skin under the Hard Rock license.

Creating a Unibet account
Before the wagering process can begin, customers will need to register for an account. The Pennsylvania version is entirely separate from New Jersey, so existing account holders will need to start from scratch.

The info required to create an account includes:

Name
Date of birth
Address
Social Security number
Answers to security questions
How to deposit funds
There are several ways for customers to deposit funds into an account:

ACH/e-check
******
Cash deposit (PayNearMe)
Instant banking
Visa and Mastercard
Play+
Casino cage at Mohegan Sun Pocono
Once a deposit is made, the funds are available to use in the sportsbook or casino.

Withdrawal options are pretty much the same except for PayNearMe, prepaid cards and credit cards.

Unibet establishing a strong footprint in America
Unibet has plans to launch in other states down the road.

For now, the focus is on building up the brand in two of the more prominent American sports betting markets.

The company rolled out its NJ online casino over the summer.

The sportsbook went live on Sept. 10.

As far as Pennsylvania goes, Unibet should benefit from the recently announced casino partnership with the Eagles. The Unibet stadium ads are even noticeable to those watching the game at home.

How the deal translates to future success in PA is to be determined.

Eagles Partner Unibet Officially Launches in Pennsylvania

Unibet, an official Eagles partner, has officially launched its sports betting app in Pennsylvania today, making it the seventh online sportsbook in the state.

A popular and well-known European brand, Unibet will enter a hotly contested market in Pennsylvania where localized dominant US brands like DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, and FOX Bet are already present.

Unibet successfully completed its three-day test with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and will be available for betting on NFL games this weekend.

Launching prior to Sunday was likely a big focus for Unibet.

The Stockholm-based company struck an official partnership deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, which includes signage in the stadium and branding on Eagles social media accounts. And with all eyes being on The Linc this Sunday at 4:25 when the Eagles kickoff against the Patriots, Unibet will certainly benefit from having its app available in the state.

So what will separate Unibet from the pack and how will they compete in Pennsylvania?

Here’s a few quick items to consider.

Unibet uses the popular Kambi betting platform used by DraftKings and SugarHouse Sportsbook. While the former adds a layer of its own UI features and custom bets, the latter mostly skins Kambi’s offering and shows it to customers.

Unibet looks like it will do the same. In fact, anyone who has played SugarHouse Sportsbook, or its sister site BetRivers, will instantly recognize what they see from Unibet. But they’ll find a more polished and aesthetically pleasing version of those other books.

Using its famous green color scheme, Unibet manages to look and feel more modern than some other apps. While there are no frills to the interface, everything is clearly labeled and laid out, which makes finding bets easy.

And there are no shortage of them.

Kambi is well-known for the vast markets it offers and instantly-updating live betting options.

New players with Unibet will also get a fairly aggressive signup bonus. You can get two free $10 bets upon registration with no deposit (so that’s an easy way to check out the app) and your first bet is risk-free up to $250.

But will this be enough to get players to play with Unibet in Pennsylvania?

Unibet suffers from the same wrinkle that SugarHouse does in that it does not offer an iOS app out of the box and, rather, requires players on iPhones and iPads to download a third-party geo-location tool to play through the mobile web on those devices. There is a standard desktop website and direct download Android app, but with the majority of online bets being placed on Apple devices, according to recent reports, any sportsbook launching without that capability is instantly at a disadvantage.

Marketing the app against household US brands will be difficult. However, Unibet, in striking a partnership with the Eagles, instantly gets its brand in front of the most desirable fan base in the state, and that may enable them to better compete.

Whatever the case, there is no reason for new players not to check it out seeing as they will get two free $10 bets when they sign up here.

Unibet is still charging -114 juice on college football games and still running non-stop ads on Radio.com Entercom stations on the streaming app. If you listen to WIP sports radio Philadelphia or WFAN sports radio New York you will hear their radio spots twice on every break. They must be stopped. If they gain any traction in NJ or PA other online books will try the same thing.
