"Trailling by two goals, Carolina got a power play with 2:34 to play when Brooks Orpik was called for elbowing.

With Ward on the bench for a 6-on-4 advantage, the Hurricanes made it a one- goal game as Corvo's one-time slap shot from the high slot found its way past Fleury with 1:26 to go.

After the faceoff, Carolina got Ward off the bench again and nearly tied the game as Eric Staal had the puck all alone at the left side, but his shot hit off the stick of Fleury and the goaltender fell on top of the puck with 28.7 seconds to play.

"Luckily he didn't get good wood on it and I was able to cover it up," said Fleury about the Staal chance.

You people that say the pens will get more power plays for better TV ratings are absolutely ridiculous. The reason the penguins got more power plays in both series is bc they were in the offensive zone more. Pittsburgh had 65 more shots in goal in the series then washington.

When a team is putting pressure on another team that is on the defensive they will be more prone to getting called for penalties due to the desperation of getting the puck out of their zone.

Nice!!! A post based on sound reasoning!!!
