Seems like a lot of people here are totally missing the point about this story.

It's not about a manager chewing out a member of the press. And it's not about whether Mariotti is an asshole or not. And it's not just a sports story.

It's about a major public figure using a term that is considered highly derogatory. Just imagine if Guillen had chewed out a reporter by calling them a spic, chink, ******, or kike. This is the same. That's what this story is about.

I'm no flaming liberal, and I hate PC stuff, but this is just plain ugly and Guillen should be called out on it.

Cannot believe how many morons are defending Ozzie here. He constantly lets stupid shit like this come out of his mouth and all we hear is that Marrioti is an idiot. That is not the point. Says a lot about the character of many on this board. Not that I should expect most to be of high moral character anyway on here. Truly disgusting.

And I could care less what you think or say, Cincy. I didn't start this thread or keep it in this forum, therefore since it is still in this forum, I am in the right forum and thread.

I added factual information to the discussion to make the point that liberals don't consider homosexuality wrong, so why should they object to being called a homosexual?

I am not surprised that Cincy misses the point.

I didn't miss the point - I just don't care ....

... and from the lack of responses, it has been shown that nobody else does either.

I think you got ESPN's version. CNN's version is different, here's the excerpt:

Guillen also told Couch that he has gay friends, attends WNBA games, went to a Madonna concert, ate dinner at Skinsraj's house, masturbated in Brokeback Mountain, followed beating.vegas' game of the years, went to a gay movie theatre, shook hands with dsethi, put his personal picture in his avatar, had internet sex with Roxygurl, deepthroated a 15 inch kielbasa with rawpimple, gave himself a peticure, and put an umbrella in his ass and opened it.

Guillen couldn't be reached at Michael Strahan's house for comment.
That's funny, whatever your sexual preference!:puppy:

Ozzie loves the US and should be allowed to say what he wants. He called the guy out for not coming to him first. Ozzie takes a lot of heat off of his players by being a lightning rod with his no-nonsense way of talking. This is not about being a liberal or a conservative - this is about freedom of speech. This world has gone too crazy being politically correct. Ozzie's only standard of conduct is getting the White Sox another ring. Something he's done better than anyone I know of. Good job Coach Guillen!

Soluting Ozzie for saying stupid shit is ludicrous. Very flawed way of thinking. Wouldn't have expected that from my prior thoughts of you.

Sorry. I'm just so tired of everyone having to be so nice anymore and not say anything to offend anyone. At least Ozzie said what he said in public , where the other guy knows exactly waht he said and could find him to refute what he said or demand an apology.

We have guys on the internet that flame and namecall all behind the safety of their computer. They will stalk you and talk their nonsense, all because they know they are hidden away behind their computer.

Mariotti Now Universally Acclaimed As Lazy, Slobbish, Gassy

mariottidouche.jpg
It’s tough to decide whom to dislike more: White Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski or Chicago Sun-Times and “Around The Horn” gasbag Jay Mariotti. Particularly if you’re a Cubs fan. After the big interleague tussle last weekend, Pierzynski was on “Pardon The Interruption” yesterday and went after Mariotti full-bore:
[Pierzynski says] “Your guy Jay Mariotti wrote an article about me the other day saying how it was all my fault. So Jay, here’s an open invitation to come to the clubhouse and say ‘hello’ to me. If you want to write an article about me, then come speak to me face-to-face.”

Both Kornheiser and Wilbon immediately burst into laughter, with Tony responding, “He’s not my guy!” and Wilbon jibing at his cohort, “Tony will love that!”

Pierzynski added that as far as he knew, Mariotti had never been inside the White Sox’ clubhouse. Tony Reali (aka ‘Stat Boy’) did not deny that fact near the show’s finish, but did say that Mariotti was in the interview room when Pierzynski was speaking to the press after the game.
Putting aside, for a moment, that what we’ve always thought — both Kornheiser and Wilbon know full well Mariotti is a talentless hack — we can understand Pierzynski’s (and other Chicago athletes’) dilemma. On one hand, it must be frustrating to be constantly attacked by someone who calls himself a journalist but never deigns to ask a question, research a fact or do much of anything but apply pancake makeup. On the other hand … jeezus, who wants to talk to Jay Mariotti?

First of all Gillen flat out knows baseball. He is also not a politically correct piece of shit so you know where you stand with him. This defintly helps him in managing. Second of all Jay Mariotty is a fucken queer.

Caucasions constantly monitered and rebuked for what is perceived as derogatory statements, blacks/hispanics we owe them the benefit of the doubt. Welcome to politically correct U.S.A.

This just in......

Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig today fined Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen an undisclosed amount and ordered him to attend sensitivity training for making offensive comments.

Commissioner Selig said: "On Tuesday night, Ozzie Guillen used language that is offensive and completely unacceptable. Baseball is a social institution with responsibility to set appropriate tone and example. Conduct or language that reflects otherwise will not be tolerated. The use of slurs embarrasses the individual, the club and the game."

Selig is a bigger asshole than Mariotti! Baseball owners deserve this idiot! Unfortunately we all get screwed by this no-nothing owner/commissioner/moron.

As a journalist you are suppose to keep your opinions our of stories you write unless it's a column or opinion piece. JM writes a opinion piece for the Chicago Sun-Times.

When you are a public figure you have put yourself on this platform to be ripped apart. Ozzie should understand that by now. The real professionals in the sports and entertainment world just brush it off and move on. Ozzie doesn't get this part of the job. Takes negative press as too personal.

Calling out Jay just makes Ozzie look like one of those guys who can't handle criticism. He shouldn't care what Jay has to write. Just ingore it and do what your paid to do. He's been pretty successful whether or not the media agrees with him anyways.
Ozzie cannot take criticism at all. Interesting thing is Mariotti writes 2/3rds of his articles on the Tribune Company and Baker. Mariotti and the White Sox have a past however. He was working for ESPN 1000 (Chicago White Sox flagship station). Reinsdorf (another very thin-skinned individual) didn't like the negative from Mariotti and strong-armed ESPN 1000 to fire him. Then Reinsdorf pulled his team from that station to the competiting station.
