At least for the goddam playoffs, both teams should get the ball.

TDs, 2 point try, only.

Defenses are worn out in overtime, so if you win the coin toss that is too big of an advantage, you can score a TD and win with no opposition.

I think they will make a change on the current overtime approach, the public is up in arms over this and of course the Rams PI.

Each team does get the ball unless the first score is a TD. Come on man...its the NFL, not college. If you lose the toss play some D and don't give up a TD.

Defenses are worn out in overtime? That's funny cause I thought these teams have been"Coasting" for the last 2 months

Lol really? If ya don't win the coin toss... how about play a little defense and get the ball for your offense. This is the NFL dumbo

The loser of the toss has a responsibility but the winnerr doesnt? That's brilliant. The winner has a responsibility to score... the loser of the toss has a responsibility to play some defense.

You sound like someone who wants a college football score of 78-75 lol. Each team gets the ball unless a TD is scored on the first possession

I think this post is almost as dumb as referee stats lmao

Its name calling time again.

Hey Fuckface, its not difficult to comprehend.

Where the fuck did I say I want a 75-72 score??

Each team should get the ball. Its not too hard to comprehend, except for a little bitch fuck like yourself.

Your referee stat was the best example of a dumb fuck finding a stat and thinking its predictive. Then your stupid bitch ass back pedals and says 'Uh duh, I was just posting a stat, duh uh".

You are too fucking stupid to understand this post. Just shut the fuck up already you bitch made asshole.

Yeah I would like to see a modification for the other team to have an opportunity to match it and bring it to 2OT. At least for the playoffs. I’m fine with how LA/NO was due to the turnover. But for KC to not even have a shot to respond??

KC loses the coinflip and now has to play good D, then come back and play good offense. Pats only have to play good offense. Doesn’t match up.

Had KC gotten the ball? They’d have scored unless refs urinated on the field to cause the punt. Needed Pats and they made sure of it. Roughing the passer off a brushed shoulder pad? Many have said Manning was the poster boy for the league. Bullshit. Manning never had a rule come out. He didn’t get 1/4 of the penalties to favor him. No QB or team has gotten more favoritism towards them than the Patriots. The Patriots could play the shittiest game of the century and still win because refs give it to them

OT in football is like a whole new game.
We all see more scoring, come from behind passing in the 4th quarter... because the pass rush is tired, the defenses are worn out.
College OT tells it all.... the defenses are usually gassed and the offenses in OT cannot be stopped.
It is amazing that the NFL has not figured this all out and has allowed a team that wins a coin toss such a huge advantage.

it just seems that since every teams strategy is to receive the ball in overtime that it shows how much is determined by the coin flip. only idiots defer the ball in ot so knowing how much of the game can be effected by a coin flip they have to change it somehow.

Play defense

The issue with "play defense" is that the defenses are tired in most football games in the 4th quarter. That is why so many last minute miracle back and forth comebacks occur.

Takes more energy to play D than O, especially the pass rushers compared to the OL blockers.

SO in OT it is even worse. They are gassed. That is why college is hilarious, they go back and forth matching TDs in overtime, defenses are helpless sometimes.

Tom Landry: "The KEY to winning in the NFL is having a pass rush in the 4th quarter".

Cant play defense against the refs unless youre talking about taking them out of the equation by knocking them all out and going back to pre-CTS days with no pads, grid-iron type football? LOL

The Rams played defense in overtime...right? Think about it

Was the Rams defense tired in OT when they loss the coin flip and won the game?

In the NFL, 52.7 percent of teams winning the overtime coin toss (and receiving) win the game at some point in overtime.

Next fictitious argument please

So there is a better than 50% chance they win.

Thanks for the research showing us what we have said all along.

Winning the OT coin toss is an advantage.

Was the Rams defense tired in OT when they loss the coin flip and won the game?

They got a lucky INT in great field position, on a fluke pop fly pass from Brees.
Otherwise Saints might have marched down the field.
So you are wrong again.
Defenses are dead tired in OT, hell in the 4th quarter, and you know it. Both teams should get the ball, at least in the playoffs. I think the tired defenses matter more in football than other sports (again, think of all the last few minute TDs in regulation... QBs get the glory but a lot of it is the defenses are gassed).
KC got screwed, I think the NFL will change the rule, I think it is the only sport where a team does not always get to go on offense in OT (college FB, MLB, NBA, NCAA hoops, NHL, et al).
