LH: He doesn't smoke POT!! My Dad would NEVER SMOKE POT!!

LH: Because he told me so and my Dad would never lie to me.

I am with Harrington. Nothing good can come from telling you kids, if they are actually kids. Children are not ready for some things. I don't smoke weed in front of my kid and I don't drink alcohol in front of him either. Whenever he is a grown up, married, with a profession, I'll let him know. Children see, children do.

They are actually high school and college age. The College age child can do what he wants now. It's time for him to make his own choices. As for the one in high school he is a straight A student who swears he has never even drank. Soon enough he will be out of my house and he can do what he pleases. Great post Not So Good. Obviously we agree.

Funny but you still have not given me a good reason to tell them I smoke weed. They will never find out. I don't get caught.

May as well hide one's gambling, sex and other drug use if you're peculiar enough to think that kids are so dumb they can't be taught the differences in what's appropriate for minor and what's appropriate for adults.

Agree with barman....Harrington, its really not a big deal, especiall if you've visited California within the last 10 years, and the passing of prop. 215. Obtaining medical cannabis is as easy as walking into 7-11 and buying a 6 pack. NO SHAME attached with it in Calif. either. I don't judge either way, but I can understand the lying to the kids part, so as not to deliver a mixed message regarding "drugs". Which cannabis is far from.

I think its important for a parent to keep his or her smoking habits from there high school and younger kids because, while smoking pot is not a good habit "there are far worse things an individual can do" the friends that your child hang around with in high school greatly influence your child's behavior, and most, not all but most kids i knew who smoked alot of pot in highschool are the one's who either didn't go to college or have been in the most trouble. Kids friends have the most influence on them and if they think smoking pot is ok you may end up with your kid getting in with the wrong crowd. Once your kid gets into college a few years they have probably experienced with it or have no interest and at that point i think you could tell them without issue, by the way im 22 so high school wasn't that far back for me.

I wonder if I'll ever totally quit. The kids go out and I find my self hiding in the basement smoking a bowl. Boy when I was a teen a had to hide my weed smoking from my parents. Now I have to hide it from my kids. Man I'm really high, I go now and have some cake. Later boys.


No reason for them to know. I don't need them thinking that because I smoke it's ok for them to smoke. There is no valid reason for telling your kids you smoke weed. You're logic is stupid.

20-1 says if your kids are 15 years old or more.......they smoke weed too!!!

And if they don't now they WILL in college.

Senior in high school with a 98.3% average. A heart condition doesn't allow him to participate in sports so we are hoping for an academic scholarship. And I know for a fact that he has never tried pot. I've asked him to wait until college if he must give it a try. I'm not naive enough to think he won't try.
