That's 2 good episodes in a row. A strong finish can really redeem this season.

It was funny, at the beginning of the episode, I said "Wayne Palmer needs to die or something. I'm sick of the guy."

Kiefer finds out what the Chinese want in exchange for Audrey: a piece of one of the suitcase nukes that will somehow give the Chinese full access to all Russian weapons systems. Just go with it, okay? Kiefer does, reluctantly, and he enlists Chloe's aid in downloading the necessary schematics from Morris's computer. When Morris busts her, he then forces her to tell Buchanan, who has Doyle take Kiefer down before he can get away with the circuit board. Now that the sneakiness option is off the table, Kiefer appeals directly to Wayne to let him just pretend he's going through with the exchange in order to get Audrey freed. Of course, Kiefer promises to destroy the chip (and, if necessary, himself) rather than let it fall into Chinese hands. That, plus a patriotic little guilt trip, helps Kiefer convince Wayne to sign off on the faux trade, and Kiefer's got CTU support again, complete with a ride to the drop point from Doyle. After blackmailing the Veep into writing a resignation letter, Wayne gives a post-crisis press conference and ends up having a catastrophic brainfart on live TV. That means the Veep is back in charge, and the first thing he does is pull the plug on Kiefer's operation. Now, you and I both know that Kiefer isn't going to be down with any such plug-pulling, so instead of going quietly when Buchanan tells Doyle to bring him in, Kiefer leaves Doyle stranded by the side of the road. But won't Audrey be happy to see him?

The Veep consolidates his new position as Commander-in-Chief by mending fences with Tom and making out grossly with Lisa. Ick. Kiefer's on his way to get Audrey, and everyone at CTU is busy looking for Kiefer before he can hand the circuit board over to Cheng. When they're not fighting with each other, that is. In fact, things get so ugly between Morris and Chloe that Morris asks Buchanan for a transfer. Buchanan's got problems of his own, though: his wife just fired him. The reason has to do with Chad Lowe telling Justice Department investigators that Buchanan released Fayed two years ago, and with Karen's need to insulate Wayne from the political fallout (no pun intended). Buchanan's bummed, but he really did have the longest run as CTU boss ever. Nadia takes charge at CTU as Doyle tracks Kiefer to the abandoned hotel where he's set up to meet Cheng (and which he's wired to explode). The exchange starts to go through just the way Kiefer and Cheng anticipated in their respective and yet very different plans. But then Doyle, hiding in the bushes, opens fire and everything goes pear-shaped. Audrey's safe, but Kiefer takes a bullet in the vest before he can blow up the building. Cheng gets away into the mountains with the circuit board, which pisses off absolutely everyone but Cheng. And Kiefer's got additional reason to be pissed when he realizes that Audrey's been traumatized to the point where she isn't exactly all there. Understandable; after what he gave up in exchange for her, he had a right to expect he was getting all of her.

The Russians already know that the Chinese have the chip from the suitcase nuke, and some cutting-edge telecommunications equipment (which just happens to be advertised during a later commercial break) allows them to tell the Veep just how pissed off they are about it. In fact, President Suvarov is threatening military action. But how did the Russians find out so quickly? Well, in addition to her affair with the Veep, Lisa has been having sex with someone who she didn't know is spying for the Russians. Still, resolving that question doesn't let CTU off the hook as far as finding and retrieving the chip, and neither does the fact that the chip is damaged and thus useless to Cheng at present. The Veep confronts Lisa and forces her to agree to lie to her spy boyfriend, and I guess we'll see how that works out next hour.
Nadia quickly finds herself in over her head as CTU's acting director. Because Audrey is CTU's only lead to Cheng, a hotshot shrink from District wants to "shock" her out of her torture-induced catatonic state with a bit more torture. Nobody at CTU thinks this is a good idea, but Nadia lets the shrink pull rank and get ready to do his thing. That's when Doyle decides to let Kiefer escape to have a few moments with Audrey to see if he can get through to her instead. Kiefer's "kinder, gentler" questioning involves physically assaulting Audrey's would-be questioners in her presence, and then dragging her in her hospital gown to the bowels of CTU to try to connect with her while a crew forces entry with a cutting torch. Just in time, Audrey manages to utter the word "Bloomfield," which is enough of a clue to give Nadia the gumption to call off the shrink. Audrey's dad, Ex-SecDef James Heller, shows up to take care of Audrey, and also to ground Kiefer from ever seeing her again. Oh, and Morris dumps Chloe for being mean to him. We all knew it was only a matter of time.

I think this show has jumped the shark the last few episodes-and that's saying a LOT for a show where we gotta believe all this shit goes on in one day and nobody goes to the head. I don't believe for a second that Ricky Shroeder would twice have violated protocol for that sallow faced bitch Audrey (if she at least looked like Jack's daughter I could see it, lol!). I DID like the Vice President's bluntness when informed that there was a problem because the blonde was the leak and had slept with an ally of the Russkies: "There's a bigger problem than you realize, 'cause I'm sleeping with her, too." Anybody think that "Spoons" Ricky is gonna get down with that good looking Persian chick? You know, the one who went from being tortured as a terrorist to head of CTU in about two hours?

I was a big fan of the show but this year has turned me off. Like others have posted, it's really become way too repetitive. It's funny how Chloe can basically overide any technology known to man from her desk at CTU to aid Jack. In regards to the Jack Bauer character, I liked the first season best because Jack wasn't "superman" yet. He was vunerable and it had the great ending of his wife dying despite all his efforts. To me, he has become a cartoon character.

PS-Raider, I also get the feeling that Nadia is going to get together with Mike.

I just caught up with the last 3 shows on TIVO.

I have to tell you that it was brutal.

This is coming from someone who has seen every last show of this series all the way back to season 1.

Day 6: 2:00 A.M. - 3:00 A.M.
By M. Giant | Season 6 | Episode 21 | Aired on 2007.05.07

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kiefer is, believe it or not, still under arrest when Doyle and his men head out to "Bloomfield" to get Cheng and the nuke's component. That means Kiefer is trapped in a CTU holding room when something horrible happens. Yes, Chloe parades Marilyn in there to have a heart-to-heart about Audrey. Shudder. That's not the only romantically awkward scene of the hour, either, because Morris further explains why he dumped Chloe and Milo acts all noble-martyr about Nadia's burgeoning feelings for Doyle. Despite being grounded, Kiefer's about to meet some Chinese guys anyway, because Cheng's men aren't at Bloomfield; they're busting into CTU from the sewers below. They start killing people forthwith, including Milo (that'll learn Eric Balfour to change his hair in the middle of a season). Kiefer gets loose and heads straight to Marilyn and Josh, only to learn that Josh is who the Chinese commandos are after. As Kiefer says, "What?" Kiefer cuts Josh loose in the CTU ventilation system, but the commandos force Josh to turn himself in to them by threatening to shoot Marilyn. Meanwhile, the Veep and Tom send Lisa back to her spy boyfriend to plant false information that's supposed to get back to the Russians, but all that gets planted is -- no, I'm sorry, I can't go there. They just have sex, okay? Again, shudder. Cheng reports that his mission has been accomplished, and we learn why he wanted Josh -- so he could hand him over to Kiefer's dad in exchange for fixing the nuke's component. Really, is there enough "whatever" in the world at this point?

I was thinking the same thing.

Its not that its too much like the others.

It just too unbelievable.

There is no way in hell that the chinesse pull all that off in real time. That is about as realistic as someone showing up on the doorstep of the white house with a machine gun.

Do you realize that the chinesse planed that attack on CTU in less than 45mins?

How in the hell is that even possiable?

BUGSBUNNY and the ROADRUNNER are more realistic than that.

Hell STARWARS is just as realistic.
