(Old Topic, dated 08-16-2002) General Warning about the industry

Search
I didn`t say you did say that, why is everyone so paranoid? General, there are no guarantees any of us will even be here tomorrow, but its very likely we will.....We can`t worry about every rumor, we can only share info....real info that people we respect have experienced, not all these rumors....Books will come and go, everyone needs to be smart not have all their money in one spot, get payouts regularly, and report problems....anyone who is stiffed more than the time it takes overnight courier must report right away!

I didn't know Joe already got the boot. I guess that explains his new angle. I've been here for almost two years and he was always a mod. Now I'll let you get back to slingin.

my friend, i havent a worry in the world when it comes to books, because i dont ever put more in them that i can lose and never lose sleep over my funded accounts. what i do worry about is whether this ear infection i got is really the west nile or mad cow disease /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

what am i slingin? im only here to assist. im just a good fella with opinions and thats it. opinions dont mean anything, but they need to be respected.

Joe, you are totally clueless. The big books such as Olympic, Pinnacle, and WSEX are bigger than ever. The only warning I would give is to not play at any new books because the industry is already saturated with off shore books.

Right on JOE!!!

BTW, when you have a sleeze like Loveladies7777 (aka Scottish Gangster), one of the "best" credit card scammers in the biz against you, you know you gotta be on to something...

"I have no detailed information about any specific books"

Do us all a favor and save your gloom and doom posts until you have detailed information about specific books. Darwinism is going to play out among books no doubt, but the strong will survive, and there are certainly strong, safe offshores out there.

Perhaps your post is just meant to pump up the RX hit count, but I think this is an irresponsible post to say the least. It's really no better than Biff's inane ramblings. If you have specific, credible info that a particular book is on trouble, pass the info on. Otherwise keep your powder dry.

Well it's the season all Sports Books patiently wait for...FOOTBALL.

With most "Locals" losing their retirement-shirts in the "off-season" stock market decline, it should be no surprise for one to see Offshore bashers beginning their seasonal crusade...their message...support your local.

The ironic thing...I've never been stiffed by an Off-shore, which is something that can't be said about LOCALS.

Simple Game.

All I know is that in Vegas you never hear stories of a book not paying or slow paying. Nor do you ever hear of them sending your money to someone who wasn't you. Nor do you ever see them getting bashed or complained about on forum boards.

I will also say thatif ANY casino in Vegas was ever allowed to take wagers on the internet, I am sure that 99.9% of the people that place bets online would open an account there. And NEVER worry.

There are many reasons why this is true. And no real reason to bore everyone here with them. But that day will probably never come.

I am fortunate enough to have that outlet. And believe me I feel a lot better, as I said betting in Vegas. There isn't a single poster here that can honestly say they have never questioned an offshore book, for one reason or another. If you say you haven't, then you are lying.

First, Joe is on "payroll" at Rx, he is doing contests.

He is not doing moderating.

And he has an opinion on the state of the offshore industry. He gave it. My understanding is that he gave his PERSONAL opinion. And I think that is cool.

Shrink has an opinion of the state of the offshore industry. He gave it.

Many more people have weighted it. This is, I think, good.

Everybody gives their opinion based on experience, belief or agenda. So what else is new?

I like the thread, carry on.....

Chuck S makes the key point in this thread...the mighty are getting mightier.

For the domino effect to work there would have to be a top-down collapse. IMO that risk is on the decrease.

Also, Shrink mentioned consolidation. I don't see it. There was much more activity last year and still outside of a bailout or two there has been nothing.

But the quality books continue to pull players and continue to weaken books like GoTo, Sportbet and others in that group.

LOL Payton.

You are somewhat like me.

I am of (double) Finnish descent.

My wife got me a sweatshirt, it says "You can tell a Finn, but you can't tell them much".

I think you can tell a Payton, but you can't tell them much either LOL.

Great post. Unfortunately some of us have no choice but to keep on gambling...

FYI my friend, there already are Casino's in Las Vegas currently engaged in Internet sports wagering. (All the Station Casino's and Mirage). Since the state requires them to verify that the wager is being placed within State Boarders, the system requires a PHONE LINE MODEM to be used. (rather slow…obsolete).

Additionally, if you choose, you may also phone in your wagers to most all LV Casino Sports Books. The Books give you a pager and when you call the “system” a code number is sent to your pager. You simply enter the number received into your phone, get your run-down and begin wagering.

If you don't like modems, the Internet, phones or waiting in lines at your local Las Vegas Book...the Fiesta allows you to enter your wager through a "bank-type" drive through.

So, join the 1000 Punters moving into Las Vegas weekly only to play OFF-SHORE!

LV cannot compete with the Off-shore sports gaming industry’s ODDS, LACK OF GOVERNING REGULATIONS, PROPS, CONVENIENCE, SPEED, AND ALL THOSE BONUSES...

Simple Game.

I think the general made, once again, the same very valid point which went unanswered...

"but there is no way to ensure any book is going nowhere. any book can close shop any day and forget us. im not trying to dis you here shrink, but there is simply no guarantee in offshore gaming security."

Journey, your response to that is that there are no guarantees in this life whatsover, which, imo, is an overstatement. Granted, i am do not know for sure whether i ll be alive or dead come this morning, but some things are more probable than others, you are a gambler and you know that...

Guys,

Its very clear Joe... "has a hidden a agenda" Seems we have a guy here who is mad he was replace.. He was replace by a more likable and much more intelligent man "PEEP" Joe is really clueless.. and his statement is like a child who lost his toy and is mad.....If any well known sportsbook goes under in the next four months...I will paypal $100 to any poster who emails me at my friends email address "shamer@webtv.net"...YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

While I agree that it is important to keep minimal funds off-shore and to spread out those funds among several (hopefully) solid books, it is ludicrous to assume your 'local man' is any less a threat to go broke than an off-shore book.

I have long suspected a huge number of books are in deep financial poo-poo and could go bankrupt in a very short period of time. The competition is just too intense and very cut-throat. And on-line gamblers are very sharp. If the gambling public has a few good weeks at the beginning of football season, the above mentioned poo-poo will hit the fan.
