They are ALLREADY ranked higher than IOWA, IOWA STATE, NORTHERN IOWA, and DRAKE.

IOWA is the closest to them, ranked two spots behind them in the #32 slot.

Wake Forest at #2 is much more disturbing to me than Kansas being at #1.

It will interesting to see how far the Fighting Illini will fall when they do lose.

As average as Iowa is, can see the Hawkeyes beating them in Iowa City.

Illinois is the ONLY team with 8 wins over Top 50 teams, not to mention being undefeated and they are #7. Yet Oklahoma State is 3-3 vs. the Top 50 and is ranked #4. The RPI needs some antibiotics because it has a serious infection.

It is meaningless guys, all it is used for is to compare say the number 2 team in a mid-major conference against the number 5 or 6 from a major conference. They don't use it for the top teams much. Margin of victory matters a lot near the top, but when you get teams beating up weaker opponents night after night they felt they had to consider the strength of schedule. Why do people keep trying to read something into it?

The RPI rankings are geared to try and give a feel for NCAA tourney seedings. It is not worthless IMO. It is a decent view of who will be where come March. Quite a bit of predicting in there.

I think the RPI is worthless. It is simply fatally flawed. Any person with good CBB knowledge could sit down and review the teams, schedules, scores themselves and do a better job of comparing teams. The polls themselves are simply much more accurate than the RPI. Probably the most accurate would be getting together Spiro, LVSC, the main guy from Pinnacle...and I'll throw Shrink in there though he has to leave the room when ODU is discussed. :smoker2:
