Palm on 45th and 2nd is the most like Peter Luger's, if you like that old school feeling where the waiters are old men and the bartenders serve manly drinks. Feels like you stepped back into the 50's at both places. Luger's is a pain in the ass to get to, and hundreds of tourists in there.

Striphouse is more of an intimate date place, it's a converted stripclub with a lot of red velvet on the walls, dark, etc.

Personally, I like Del Frisco's on 48th and 6th. Get a table upstairs and there's a nice view of Radio City Music Hall, makes your guests feel like they're in a classy NYC place. Steaks are real good, and they have some of the better seafood for a starter.

Thanks for the picks. Going to try and hit a couple of them.
We have a Mortons here and used to have a Smith & Wollensky.
The S&W building has been sitting vacant-same colors-for 6+ years.

There is a Smith & Wollensky in midtown NYC -- very good restaurant

I would love to try an Uncle Jack's since he's the guy on restaurant stakeout. His attention to detail on customer service on the show makes me want to be in his restaurant. He makes it seem like all of his restaurants would feel like the place to be in town. Anyone been there?

Foodie mode today in lieu of our upcoming Vegas via Nola trip and forgot about this thread...

I ended up hitting Peter Luger's with the wifey and it was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had.
Pre gamed in the bar...their house in house Nut Brown Ale was awesome. We had a few of those.
Steak was probably the best I've had. (Pappas Bros is close). And the bacon...yeah buddy.
Liked the ambiance as we seemed to get there during a pretty tourist-less time.

The other two memorable eats were:

Pure Thai Cookhouse and Nnonya (Malaysian)
At Pure, we just beat the crowd as this place is probably 500 SF. The line was easily 30 deep when we left.
But we discovered an unfiltered canned sake that we have been ordering online ever since...Kikusui.
It's a tad pricey, but it's easily one of the best on the market...$7 for 8oz.

I like the Strip House - you can eat at any steakhouse for $100 per person - a non kobe beef steak cost $65 high end - that's $130 and split an appetizer and tip and your at $100 per person

Peter Luger's is good too but youve got to go yo Brooklyn
