I agree with no flag in that situation. The refs screw up a lot but taking away a Seattle win over a play where batting the ball gave the Seahawks zero advantage would have been a far worse situation

I agree with you, IF the rule said something about Judgement. Maybe they should add that in. It really would have been a shame if Seattle lost on a technicality, just like it was a shame Oakland lost on the tuck rule. Losing on technicalities happens.

Oakland losing on the tuck rule was a great thing.

Gave America a Patriots win after 9/11. Very uplifting for the US of A

I still remember Kraft completely tanked going "We're all Patriots, and tonight the Patriots are the world champs!"...Did it make sense? Not really but great moment.

Blandino: “Judgment call on the field. Back judge felt it wasn’t overt. That’s why he didn’t call it on the field."

"A player may not bat or punch: (a) a loose ball (in field of play) toward opponent's goal line; (b) a loose ball (that has touched the ground) in any direction, if it is in either end zone; (c) a backward pass in flight may not be batted forward by an offensive player."

I don't see the word "Overt" anywhere in the rule.

Blandino is a joke.

During his phone interview on the Nfl network he told Spero Dedes that Wright clearly batted the ball out of bounds, and it was a penalty.

Damage control from a league that gets worse and worse by the year.

NFL head of officials Dean Blandino said the refs missed an illegal batting call at the end of the Seattle Seahawks victory and Detroit Lions should have had 1st-and-goal.

they just showed games where the ref called a penalty on a DEFENSE TEAM batting a ball. Ref didn't know rule

Yes, Steelers-Packers. Remember it clear as day after a blocked GB FG. Defender knocked the ball out of bounds intentionally that resulted in a penalty and ultimately cost the Steelers the game.

Oops!

Wilson says it was unintentional, and no penalty. Looks like they did not get ahold of Kj Wright before he gave these quotes:

“As soon as Calvin went down, I saw the ball bouncing, bouncing, bouncing and I was running so I just tried to knock it out,” Wright said.

“I wanted to just knock it out out of bounds and not try to catch it and fumble it,” Wright said. “I just tried to make a good play for my team.”

Whatt????????
Of course it gave them an advantage. It gave them the ball on the 20. As opposed to lions having the ball on the 6 inch line.

If the defender dove for the ball and it bounced off his helmet or shoulder pad and went out its one thing but he blatantly batted the ball out of the EZ with one hand.

Fuckin NFL.... national football liars. Do they ever tell the truth about anything???

the rule is made so that if a lions player is going for the ball at the same time a Seahawks player can't just knock it out of bounds so it's no longer a 50/50 ball. There were no lions players anywhere near the Seahawks LB and he could have grabbed the ball and dos cartwheels with it before anyone touched him.

Seattle needs to rid themselves of that idiot OC.

They got the best TE in the world and are making him block which is not his game.

They trade off an all pro center and dont use the weapon they they got in return.

That pass at the end of the game was dumb.

They got lucky and completed it.

If that would have been incomplete Detroit would have had plenty of time and great FP.

I am seeing more dumb game management moves this season then I have ever seen in my life.

WTF is wrong with Seattle?

IF you dont want JG give him back to the Saints please.

I know we will never agree on this Chop, but Jimmy G is not the best TE in the world. Its not really close either.

I won my Detroit bet but it sure would have been nice for them to knock out a few people in the survivor pool.

And basically clinch my Seattle under 11wins bet.

Yeah, I had Detroit +10 on the buy and then +13.5 live.

Added pk +250 in the fourth quarter. I still came out well on the game but the sweep would have been lovely.
