Look I get it homer alert but maybe I can convince you otherwise.
Last year the Blues had a magical run. Binnington and Buerbe rejuvenated a tired organization that was vastly under performing. Binning GAA 1.89 in 50 games LY and 2.54 in the PO's helped lead the team to victory.
Fast forward to Feb 26 - Jay Bouwmeester goes down on the bench a devasting loss for the Blues, from then to the end of COVID shortened season the Blues had 3 wins in 7 starts in regulation NYR, Anaheim & Chicago. Then they bust an Ofer in the warm up games. Okay those games were meaningless fair enough but they were some cracks ( could not hold a lead against Dallas) there and it is tough to flip the switch, they we see a fiesty fast VCR team straight out the gates tonight.
I was surprised how low this line was on the Blues for Game one -148 (opener) and the series -215, not very steep for a team facing a team that maybe would not have made the play offs had it not been for COVID. The problem was Markstrom got injured they had 3 wins out of 8 starts without Markstrom down the stretch. The series win against the Wild was huge confidence booster for this young squad against a physical experienced squad in MINNY. Markstrom played great in that series aside from Game 4 , but the team picked him up scoring 5. The one thing that impressed me was the young core picked up where they left off and some savy play off veterans contributed. I think coach Green is the bomb he will have match ups for every Blue & this team will be more than ready I think he will out coach Buerbe.
Last year Binnington was chipiping online that he deserved the Calder over Petterson despite his truncated season and 26 years of age. Players remember those sort of things, although Vancouver beat St Louis in VCR 3-1 in Jan in a battle of the back ups Vancouver also has 3 wins in the last 5 matchups. I think this is a terrible draw for the BLUES there bread and butter forecheck will be negated by the Canucks quick moving puck defense and I will take the Plus money - If Vancouver loses tonight I will come back with the same bet for Friday as I fully expect them to pull away in the end.

Winning Game one was the perfect scenario for me, as it set up this play and a potential free role. The Blues game plan is pretty clear be Physical and try and grind the Canucks skill players down. Just heard a great interview with one of the blues ex players now analyst. He pointed to the reason for the 3rd period SAGS is the absence of the fourth line Barbashev and Steen were killers last year playing up to 18 minutes and often taking on the top checking assignment. This kept the other 3 lines very fresh. I think the Blues bounce back today, Vancouver have won 4 in a row it maybe time for an L.
Vancouver is now favoured to win the series at -120, ST Louis opened -215 to win the series. I think the Canucks will prevail , they are the home team in games 3-4, Better Coach, Better Goalie, Better Special teams...but nice to be on a free roll. The question is how motivated will the Champs be - will the Canucks burst their Bubble?

No Backstrom no problem star player out everyone steps up, the Caps are a proud team I think they rebound here today but ultimately the Isles win the series they are now -160 to do so after opening as a dog and going up 1-0. They to have yet to be the home team when they were VS Florida they went 2-0 . Ultimately they prevail and win one for Trotz

Speaking of winning one for the coach, sad issue for Claude I hope he ends back behind the bench next year, Muller will fill in adequately. The Habs really took it the flyers and Carter Hart was the difference, I like the win one for the gipper angle here. Although long term I think Montreal will be doomed lack of scoring only 11 goals in 5 games in the bubble & Philly has allowed 4 goals in 4 games. Do the math over 7 games the Eastern Conference Darling flyers ultimate prevail against a team that barely made the PO's

Yea tough day for me yesterday. Blues tied it and I didnt feel good in OT that they were going to come out with a W. Capitols aging and even when they were ahead.
Just something missing with the Stars. Took Calgary who I believe is the best team. Being in Phoenix and watching the Coyotes their offense for years now has problems scoring.
