Had Hawai'i beat Wisconsin or the Pac-10 got 2 teams in the BCS (both still possible), they weren't getting any invites anyway.

Just saving themselves the embarrassment of not getting a bowl invite "because they're not in a conference".

that is 100% wrong....to think that with as many bowls as there are now, someone WOULDN'T have invited Notre Dame and all the fans they draw is crazy...

the 2nd tier bowls would have been fighting to get them, cuz this is the only time theyl have a shot, they years when Notre Dame really struggles but is still eligible......in actuality, most likely, they would have gotten a better bowl than they deserved, because of who they are, and gotten beat again most likely, but they would have been matched up with some 9-3 team....

They most likely would have played Temple (9-3) in the international bowl.

Who knows, perhaps 30-40 years from now INDIANA or PURDUE will be known as a better coaching destination than ND.............much like the University of Iowa has been for the past 25 years or so.

Do you guys think ND should join the Big Ten??

Fish if your ever in the Philly area let me know.

Last time there had the pleasure of having a beer with Eric Gregg at his bar at the old Vet............that was really kewl.......we chatted for over 15 minutes.

The game I attended got rained out unfortunately.

Not sure if I we be getting back to Philly anytime in the new future........the only reason would be for a slot/video poker play in the near vicinity.

The bar is called Chickie and Petes...It wasnt his bar but he did bartend there. There are a few Chickie and Petes spread throughout the city now. They are most famous for their crab fries with american cheese whiz.

The casino being built in Philly is not far from me at all, and speaking of video poker, I am currently typing this in Caesars palace. Someone I am with is obsessed with video poker....the one where after you win a hand you can pick high/low for the card.

No good VP there.........and the double up feature you are mentioning has no value.

How long are you in town for, perhaps I can steer you towards some good comps.

I am only here for a couple of days. I honestly didn't even want to come because for the most part i'll be in my room watching football, but she wanted me here for some reason. So here I am on therx, ordering room service, and watching gameday.

Not 100% wrong.

Bowls couldn't take 6-6 ND before 7-win teams.

There were a few scenarios with enough 7-win teams.

Right call by Notre Dame. Mess of a season, no coach and these small Bowls usually cost the schools the money. Why fly the few hundred players, coaches, trainers and band just to finish 6-7?

Correct, would definitely lose money going to one of the small bowl games.

They Are An Embarrassment And Did Not Deserve A Bowl

Unlike Mn, they had the class to realize this and did the right thing.

unless they have previous "tie ins" with a conference, bowls can select who they want to play...who they feel will bring the biggest fan base or make the best matchup, as long as the team is "eligible" for a bowl.....

Notre Dame would have had an invite, 100% no doubt

I'm sure I also read that 7-win teams would have to be placed before a 6-win Notre Dame, was mentioned on Gameday a few times too..
