I don't understand your statements here. Rent starts at $1250 for a one bedroom. Is that too expensive for you? Why are you passing on this?

Why would you think it was funny if a complex is named "Las Palmas". It means "the palms" of course. Palm trees are all over Southern California.

:think2:
Passing because I have found complexes I have liked for $1,000/mo. You know me QL, I am always shopping for the best price.

Also have an offer for $500/mo to room with someone, although he's up on Bear St north of the 405. Santa Ana/South Coast area.

And yes, I thought it was funny because there's a sportsbook named Las Palmas.

Dude,

When all is said and done with your prelim's of Orange County... I highly advise you to visit Pacific Beach, San Diego before you make any final choices. I did what you're doing 13 yrs ago and I choose PB. OC is nice, but the 405 alone will drive you insane. San Diego has a much different feel than OC. You will know the difference and your preference once you experience both.

That said... if being closer to Vegas is of utmost importance... OC is your ticket.

I'm going to be substitute teaching for an income. Moving to get in-state tuition for grad school (teaching).

I looked into the San Diego School District and they're only hiring people with full teaching credentials. Same with LA and Long Beach. The three biggest districts in SoCal not hiring subs... go figure.

Had to rule those out in the past few days. Otherwise I would have probably opted for Pacific Beach/Mission Beach.

Found a condo in Irvine for $900/mo. Although I'm thinking at this point the best way to do this is room with someone in downtown Huntington Beach or on Balboa. Same price, much better quality of life.

I live off Beach Blvd in HB about a mile from Pacific Coast Highway ("downtown HB"). I actually rent a house with friends as we're all in our early 20s and it's much cheaper than a studio/1bed. There are some studios/1bed in "downtown HB" but it can be a tough find.

We have a 4 bedroom house that we rent for $2900/mo, the house next door to me is actually a 2 bedroom/1 bath and was just rented out for $1800 I believe. So that gives you some idea

Best of luck man, and if you have any questions or anything feel free to PM me.
