Thanks for the suggestions. Looking into the Costa Mesa/Irvine area. Seems to be centrally located to everything and off the water which means cheaper prices. Also having SNA right there is very convenient for someone who will be frequent visiting Vegas.
eat at el burrito jr facing the pier awesome food:toast:
I lived in Irvine for a year and half. Make sure you live far enough away from SNA or you will be wakened by the jets taking off promptly at 7am. You can set your clock by it.
Nice college town central to LA County or SD County like you said. Nice clean city and the safest in the country for its size. Rent for a 1-bedroom apartment will be anywhere from $1500-$1800 per month. Expect lots of Asian and Indian students as your nieghbors. If you want a house in Irvine you're looking at $2500/mo.
Costa Mesa is cheaper but older and not as clean or safe. Make sure you know where the gang areas are before renting.
This is a frustrating apartment search. I find something decent on Craigslist and it's a scam. I find what appears to be a decent complex on ApartmentGuide and the reviews on ApartmentRatings say it's a dump.
I know I'm saving money technically because my tuition will be $15,000 less, but geez. Everything is $900+ for a studio and $1400+ for 2BR. Weather is beautiful though.
Saw that company. Rent starts at $1250 for a 1BR. Pass. Thought it was funny how a complex was named "Las Palmas".If you are looking for an apartment in Irvine, check out www.rentalliving.com
It's the website for the Irvine Company (they pretty much developed almost all of Orange County) and they have the nicest apartment complexes in the county. The rent will be higher but the amenities and overall quality are top of the line.
And you are correct about being close to John Wayne Airport (SNA). Irvine is about a 5-10 drive and you cannot beat that airport. Makes LAX look like Hell on Earth.
