Need advice on remedies to stop coughing

Got sick when I traveled and last night and today I can't stop coughing. I've coughed so much my sides hurt now. Tried several over the counter medications but nothing seems to be helping.
Any advice would be appreciated, I feel like shit.

Green Doberman,Have you ever tried Delsym ? Its a cough suppresant and have good luck with it.It comes in Orange or Grape Flavored liquid and I get the grape it taste better and have had good luck with this when I have a bad cough.Its expensive though but worth it to get rid of a cough.

Looked up the ClearLung. It is more of a dry cough without phlegm. Should I still try it. Whole Foods is less than a mile up the street, but the way I feel right now it could be 100 miles.

Not a big fan of OTC drugs, but that Delsym looks interesting. Right now I'd eat a big pile of shit if it would make me stop coughing.

I'm as stubborn as they come to seeing doctors but I had a cough for about a month before I saw one . He gave me a prescription of Tessalon . Worked for me.
