Glad I laid off A&M.

2* MSU/ USC- under 64.5 (-115) Both teams play gritty, tough D. MSU plays at a slow pace offensively and USC at a moderate pace. These plays have been paying off so here's another.

2* Iowa St. -4.5 We can see what has happened to some offense first teams already (Arizona, WVU, Iowa). Pitt will not be ready for a suffocating Iowa State D. Iowa State should be brimming with confidence off their 2 Baylor wins....although they'll have to shoot decently.

1* Baylor -5.5 1H On the subject of Baylor, they can reset their season here vs. UCSB team that played a soft schedule. Baylor is well coached and should adjust to their late season offensive woes.

1* VCU +4.5 (-115) This game pits two strong Ds from conferences that are somewhat overrated. St. Mary's issues have been exposed a few times this year- as in they can be stifled offensively, and their D packs tight, but doesn't cover the perimeter all that well.

1* Vermont +10 This is on the light side of a 1*. Vermont usually finds a way to hang with the big boys. Marquette could go to the final 4, or maybe lose in the first two rounds. They finished well, but are a young team.

Thanks Indy. GL to you also. That first play (USC/ MSU) is a 1H play.

1.6* Kentucky/ Providence- under 66 1H I'll repeat- well-rested teams, one and done, these first halves have been dogged defensive battles. Also, shooters are a little rusty and young players a little nervous.

1.2* Creighton -5 Not sold on the Big East, but Creighton might have the experience, defensive and offensive game, to best an NC State team that is inconsistent defensively. NC State can get hot from outside, but Creighton hopefully plays them close on the perimeter.

1* UConn/ Iona- under 65 1H Going back and forth on the spread here. UConn could win by a lot, but Iona has a really pesky defense. Iona has played pretty well the last few years vs. highly ranked teams. UConn's D will be tough for Iona to get many good looks.

Poor start. The 3 game streak of 1H under plays broken on a bucket right before the buzzer. Baylor also looks to be in trouble. Moving on to the later games......

Really like all 5 of the later games:

2.6* Memphis -1.5 A senior laden team, with a great point guard. Memphis came on late, plays intense defense, and from a better conference. Starting to think that the AAC is underrated. I also like FAU, but they haven't played anyone better than Florida and their conference opponents.

2* Grand Canyon +15.5 Gonzaga finished well, but still can get passive defensively. They haven't been too hot in past tournaments even with better teams. Grand Canyon also finished well and seems like a smart, cohesive squad.

2* Kansas St/ Montana State- under 65 1H Montana State and K. State play very solid defense. Not going to stop playing these 1st half under bets. I like both teams' intensity levels in big games.

2.7* TCU -4.5 Gonna take a risk and say that TCU gets into ASU's head, and at some point pulls away. ASU struggles with good defenses, and TCU has that...and a solid offensive game.

2* Kent State +4.5 Indiana's demeanor sometimes looks flat. Kent State plays probably the best D in the MAC. I can imagine an outright upset here.

Bad day Friday. Two early games:

1.3* Furman +5.5 Furman, not Farleigh Dickinson, goes to the elite eight. SD State has been a team I've bet on a bit, but this spread is generous, and the Aztecs can struggle offensively.

1.2* Tennessee +3 Duke is a darling now, but Tennessee is capable of playing better D than even Duke can.
