Skip will be mentioned but I really hope he doesn't get the job. From what I have been reading he will be taking the Virginia job after this season. Why do you think not looking at Pat Fitzgerald would be a major problem? I would rather keep Weis then go after Fitzgerald. On top of that Fitzgerald is coaching at the school he attended he's not going anywhere.

It is damn hard to win at NW. Take his coaching skills and apply it to the upgrade in talent he will have. He would have great Chicago recruiting ties also.

Brian Kelly will and should be the next Notre Dame coach. One hell of a coach, and can recruit

I would love this, but I really think if Cincy runs the table and gets a chance to play in the National Championship he stays. With Iowa losing yesterday they are that much closer.

Well I still think that if we win out, Weis stays. Wins @Stanford and vs. UConn might keep him around.

I don't think ND should go the up and comer route with Fitzgerald, nor the NFL route with Gruden. If we can get Brian Kelly and we are sure of this, I would support the decision to fire Weis this year. I know he has a nice thing going on at Cincy but they don't make movies about coaches at Cincinnati (or Florida). He would be a legend if he took ND to the National title game.

One thing is for sure, whoever takes over this ND team with find a program loaded with talent. But Weis being fired means Clausen leaves, Golden likely goes, we lose a top 10 recruiting class this year, x number of transfers. It's not worth it to set the program back 2-3 years unless we're getting a proven, top notch coach and right now, Brian Kelly is the only viable option.

If Claussen leaves, they have Crist. They don't make movies for 7-5 seasons, t\which is all they will ever be under Weis.

Crist is hurt for the next 6 months. There is a very real chance that ND has a 3 star, true freshman starting next year. You think Golden wants to stay around for that shit? Or you think Seantrel Henderson or Kyle Prater (5 star offensive studs) want to come to ND for this next year?

If Weis goes, so does Clausen and so does the next 2-3 years.

While you where doing all your coach strategizing I was thinking that the major problem is that most of the country hates your smug proud Irish Notre Dame traditions. I do. The only reason I check in on your NBC TV deal is to watch the Titanic sink one more time. Hyper overrated ancient green loud mouthed party hat Leprechaun drama. Who cares.

I still have never seen an intelligent ND blind hater post. Thanks for keeping the streak alive.

I absolutly HATE seeing ND lose. I just know that Brian Kelly is going to leave UC and go to ND, which will suck. He is a great coach and even better recruiter

Yup. ND has the most haters, but also the most fans. You think people in Vermont care about Florida or Texas or Alabama or USC? But bringing up Notre Dame always elicits an opinion, one way or the other.

Weis putting blame on Irish players?

Not surprisingly, after watching its highest hopes get obliterated by a loss to Navy on Saturday, Notre Dame was in search of why it happened and who was responsible. And apparently Irish coach Charlie Weis has no shortage of candidates. It is a week of "accountability and dependability," Weis proclaimed Sunday. Disgruntled Irish fans might agree with the premise if not the target of the accountability crusade, but Weis apparently already looked in the mirror and then moved on to his players. "There's going to be plenty of evidence today of guys understanding who was at fault for what situations," Weis said. "As you know, after a loss, I'm not big on giving up players, ever. That's not my way. But I think when they watch the tape, there's going to be plenty of evidence. Don't sit there and point the finger at anyone other than yourself because here's what happened on the play."

Either Kelly (Chip or Brian) will likely be the next coach. I can't see how ND can possibly keep Weis, unless the buyout is too steep....and w/ all the money the Catholic Church has paid out for the child-molesting priests a few million $$ Charlie's way shouldn't hurt too much!

Wies has recruited well enough that the next coach should be able to come right in and establish a winning program. It will be interesting to see how it all goes down.

BTW, I heard Lane Kiffin's name mentioned.....

If he stays, donations could decrease. He has alienated many in the program, so winning is even more important.

Chip Kelly has a 0% chance of being the next Notre Dame coach.

Golden domers just lost to Navy (AGAIN). Could our karma fortunes be sweeter or more blue skyed than this incensed holy candle meltdown? I like Weis mostly because he is a big ole huggy bear of a symbol of NDs fat insationable corporate consumptions. Most of us have moved past the 1980's when domers were anything close to being relevant. ND is a strong academic school whose qualities have not been well represented by its green party hat sports fanatics.
