My mistake. My definition of rich has always been anything above middle class.
We just have a different definition.

Yeah who called it rich? I don't really recall anyone calling it rich in this thread. Its not "middle class on the coasts" though. Maybe in like the most wealthy of areas but there is a reason 250k household income is still in the top 1-2%. In my thread above yours thats how I decribed it "doing well"

I am not going to continue to get into a big political discussion in this thread but Obama has been talking and pushing and ranting about raising taxes for most of the past 4 years (including campaign). Have you heard any of his talks? This guy is all about raising taxes and redistributing wealth. What do you think Obamacare is? If it were up to him he would have raised taxes awhile ago. It wasnt completely up to him though. Thank God you have a balance in there. You raise taxes on business owners and it is going to be passed down to everyone else one way or another. Same with the "rich". This is not an economy anyone should even be talking much less pushing agendas to raise taxes on any of its people. Obama has been pushing hard for this, but again it wasnt completely up to him, otherwise it would have been done. You act like Obama is against tax increases when that is one of his main beliefs. You are deluded.

If you want your taxes raised then by all means pay more. No one is stopping you. Put all the extra you want into an envelope and mail it in. Two things I hate: Conservatives who preach religion and being a good Christian and meanwhile going out and having extra marital affairs and these left wing zealots who scream about raising taxes but evade paying them themselves. I do not believe in increasing taxes on anyone. Get the spending under control first. Then, close all loopholes and make all these people pay taxes. This is a way of increasing revenue without increasing taxes.

Everyone wants taxes increased if it doesnt effect them. I dont want them raised on anyone and dont think they should be raised on anyone anytime soon.

Breathe easy now....

You even said it yourself, he has talked about it for 4 years and hasn't done it. Yeah I talked about playing in the NBA at one point when I was 12 years old, so what? I love the part about Obama has been "pushing hard" for this, yeah hes a real tenacious negotiator dude. I'd love to buy a house off that guy, lets put it that way.

I never said I wanted to pay more/less in taxes in this thread either. You seem like a bit of a whackjob honesty, no offense.

Sorry but you are clueless and obviously blinded by your ideology. Obama has been pushing for tax increases his whole presidency, but has failed, not due to him not wanting it or looking out for everyone and the economy as you are trying to portray. He is a guy who believes in redistributing wealth and taxes are a big part of that. He has failed in ramming that agenda down congress' throat.

lol, I didn't try to portray anything. If he's failed why are you so hot and bothered, so worried? I'd think you would be worried when taxes are actually raised, not based on just talking. People say they're gonna lose weight every Jan 1st, do they do it? No, so whats that worth?

Also you do realize closing "tax loopholes" is in effect a tax increase?

I'll say it 1 more time, you seem a little nuts. You can breathe easy, Obama probably has 1 year left and I doubt he gets taxes raised in that time.

Yes closing tax loopholes is an increase without actually saying you are increasing taxes. Close them. No one should be getting away, especially the wealthy without paying anything. Obama hasn't been creative in that respect because all he talks about is corporate jet owners (aka according to obama people who make 250 k or more) and increasing taxes on them. Again, it hasn't been up to him. If it had, it would have been done.

Obama is going to be very difficult to beat next year, if not impossible. If the economy is a mess next year like it is now, then he could be in trouble. Otherwise, if he is in taxes will be increased and possibly across the board (minus the poor).

Obamacare is the next thing that is in trouble. Causing increased insurance premiums for everyone and hurting businesses. Once medicine is hit with doctors making less and not being able to pay their bills, that piece of paper saying you have insurance will be worthless.

Dems -120 Repubs +110 on Pinny right now incase you were wondering. I'd probably bet Obama there unless unemployment is double digits and the market is at late 08/early 09 levels. Republicans just have no candidates but thats an issue for another time.

Also, I agree with Illini. Total humblebrag by harrington in losing 110k.

Reminds me of my uncle at the bank telling the teller he has to pay so much in taxes, that he pays more than people make in a year. Gee wonder if he's complaining about taxes or trying to say something else?

My point is in these areas 250,000 is not rich and are not corporate jet owners especially in these areas

From a global perspective, anyone in the US earning minimum wage is right

In some ways anyone who spends less than they earn should feel rich

Does that mean the person earning $250 000 per year, while spending $300 000 is poor? Perhaps. But they can always change their spending habits at anytime and join the rest of us on the rich side

(and so long as any workers wages are subject to social security, they should expect social security benefits when they're older. Further, a lot of retirement contributions are done with pre-tax income. Why are these people choosing to pay taxes on that money?)

For Harrington, stocks to consider are solid companies that give you dividends.

Caterpillar is one to jump on while it is under 100.
Jp Morgan, ge, target, and Costco all great stocks and pay dividends.

All better than letting your money sit in the bank.

Buy more on dips.

Careful here, the western economies are headed into the abyss. I'm sure some multinational monsters that are essential will survive but even they are likely to take a slight hit during all this madness. Yields are only so good if the company's stock remains neutral.

And stay away from the US banks, they are almost all insolvent and have so much hidden crap on their books its truly unimaginable. JP Morgan in particular has a absurd exposure to the derivatives market along with all kinds of other shenanigans in their books. There is no way this bank survives, it is destined for ZERO.
