Can always switch to T-bills if you don't feel like dealing with the volatility.

Also, Asia getting pounded right now if anyone cares, warrants mentioning.

consider yourself lucky. A lot of people have taken a much worse beating.. I know it hurts... But it will all be ok in a few weeks.
I hate to see all that profit gone.

Really, now is the time to buy more imo.

I echo micheal777's sentiment, the markets are not going to get appreciably better any time soon. The Euro state is on the verge of collapse right now and the situation in the US is going to get progressively worse.

QE3 will prop up the disastrous markets for awhile but the total systematic collapse is a certainty, just give it a few years.

Sounds like your portfolio is in the $2-2.5 million neighborhood?

There are so many things this guy can do, but raising income taxes, on money people work for is flat out stupid. Lower income taxes, create a flat tax, close loopholes so these rich people have to pay, and heck create a small national sales tax, that will again target people who spend money (aka those terrible "rich" people). 250,000 a year is not rich. Heck, 250,000 on the coasts is middle class. Why should American people have to pay more money and give more hard earned money to a government who blows this money on waste, corruption, greed, and red tape? Anything the government touches turns to crap. Stop all the stupid spending on all these entitlements. Entitlement societies don't work, ask Greece and plenty of other countries.

I don't care how you align politically. I think they are all pond scum, but $250K is not middle class in the Bay area or NYC. 4% of the populations makes over $100K annually. So, can you please explain how $250K is middle class anywhere?
