That pic of Seymour does say a lot. This is why it's hard to have pets, you usually out live them.

So sorry for your loss. What breed was Seymour? I'm a fan from the picture you posted.

We dont know exactly what breed he was but always guessed he was an Australian Shepard or Boarder Collie mixed with a Shepard cuz of his long snout and his frisbee skills - he was a great leaper and excellent with the frisbee - I just think of him as a dufus

My last dog "Peanut" was half Dalmation, half Beagle. He was white with black dalmation spots on his left side, and had browm Beagle spots on his right side. Kinda like the spots Seymour has.

I also had a black Australian Greyhound. This dog was fast and could fly thru the air.

I was devastated when my dachshund of 8 years died. It took me around 6-8 months to have a clearer mind and say, "it's time to make a new friend." Now with a one year old, he was probably the best decision in my life at the time. Each dog has a unique personality, and even though no dog will be like Seymour, the new one will be sure to bring more smiles and surprises.

Sorry for you loss.. I know how you feel. Put my Collie down 2 years ago and took me until recently to start thinking about getting another one. The unfortunate thing is I am gone all day now and it wouldn't be fair for the dog to be home for 12 hours during the day by himself..

Sorry for your loss. I lost my pet 28 months ago and am still pretty much bummed out. I've had pets all my life but this one was like a family member and I just can't bear to replace her. I love all pets but this one was special. I always used to tell her she was Daddy's little girl. I hope to one day see her again.

Unfortunately in my current living situation having one is almost imposible. I know one would go a long way, curing lonliness & the need to have unconditional love. Kids are fine, but, they have their own lives. And Dad/Granpa is on the periphy. My Doxie "Kisses" was part human, the best ever. She knew my every mood & seemed to adjust! Crazy.

Sad to hear this Seymour...

I think Any pet lover has been through this, even for us cat owners.
I've gone through this with my 2 dogs and now 3 Cats. and each time it's like losing a Family member.

We have a couple of cats now, and one is Very Special to me. He's like a sidekick
different from most cats that just want to be left alone.
He follows me around the house, lays down on the sofa with me and goes to sleep with me. ( he almost like a Dog )

My Wife says when he goes, I will take it worst than when it's Her time.
She's probably Right ! lol

Anyway, like I said. These pets are Family and it's always sad to lose a Family member.

I Always tell someone that has lost a pet, to check out the site Rainbow Bridge

Here is their poem

[SIZE=+1]Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry to hear Seymour....My Lab is getting up there in age and she spends everyday with me at work. I will be devastated the day she fails.

Your mobile picture of Seymour is what I look at everyday, she always has shotgun!

So sorry for your loss. I know that when I lose my "Red man" (his name is Red) is will be one of the hardest days of my life. He is a rescue that was just days from death. From the first time I saw him at the pound, I knew he would be a great friend and pet. When my garage door goes up and Red comes out, it is always a highlight to my day.

Dogs are special, but don't rush out to get another. It is hard to love a dog as much as your last one, so make sure you are ready.

Sorry to hear this man.. Dogs are awesome and better than people most of the time.

If you want to know who loves you more, your wife or your dog, lock them both in the trunk, drive around for a couple of hours, and then open the trunk and see which one of them is happy to see you.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I know how much it hurts. I had to put down my cat about a year ago and She just sat there staring at me knowing I would protect her as usual. I'm not ashamed to say tears filled my eyes. The good news is that weeks later I went to the animal rescue in Henderson and this precious Torti started licking my hand and has become a delight ever since. Don't be afraid to adopt another as they will help fill your void.

Thanks for that. A welcome laugh in an excellent, but somber thread.
