Saves.......most over-rated stat in the game. You come in with a lead, sometimes by more than a run. You have a huge advantage.

Aroldis Chapman picked up his 26th save with a scoreless ninth inning Friday against the Rockies, but his record streak of 49 straight relief appearances with a strikeout came to an end :ohno:

Advice: Michael McKenry ruined things, lining into a game-ending double play before Chapman could get his strikeout. It's the first time since last Aug. 19 that Chapman has gone an appearance without a strikeout. He currently has 74 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings this year.

Grats on save 178
Craig Kimbrel allowed Eric Campbell's leadoff single in the ninth and walked Matt den Dekker. After Flores sacrificed, Campbell was thrown out at the plate by Gosselin on Tejada's grounder to third and pinch-hitter Kirk Nieuwenhuis flied to left. Kimbrel got his 39th save in 43 chances.

Good Luck with the Padres:

Happy Opening Day, everyone. To celebrate, the Padres have made another gigantic trade. Kiley McDaniels of FanGraphs was the first to report that the Braves have traded closer Craig Kimbrel and outfielder Melvin Upton, Jr. to the Padres in exchange for pitching prospect Matt Wisler, minor league outfielder Jordan Paroubeck (link), outfielders Cameron Maybin and Carlos Quentin, and the 41st overall pick (per ESPN’s Keith Law).
The Padres were the only team yet to submit a 25-man roster and this is why. They had a glut of outfielders and cleared it up with this trade to the Braves. The Padres also reunite the Upton brothers.
Kimbrel had signed a four-year, $42 million extension last February but the Braves are going deeper into a rebuilding mode. Given the fickle nature of relievers, Kimbrel’s price tag, and the Braves’ unlikelihood of being competitive for a little while, it does make sense for them to deal the fireballer. Since debuting in 2010, Kimbrel has a career 1.43 ERA with 186 saves and a 476/108 K/BB ratio in 289 innings.
Upton had $46.35 million and three years remaining on a five-year, $75.25 million deal signed with the Braves in November 2012. In two seasons with the Braves, the 30-year-old ranked among baseball’s least productive players with a .593 OPS and -1.6 Wins Above Replacement, per Baseball Reference.

CONGRATS ON SAVE 188

### tied with the Great Mike Marshall of the 1970's Dodgers

He helped Atlanta get rid of the Upton contract...........That's his legacy here now along with being a part of Operation: Don't Be a Sucky Team In The New Stadium............

Save 192

tied with Mitch Williams
Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth save in as many chances, striking out Andre Ethier and Gonzalez, and getting Yasmani Grandal to foul out.

Hard to believe he already has almost 200 saves.
Hes going to shatter Rivera.
I dont know why anyone thinks thats such a crazy statement.

All you have to do is look at his age and grab a calculator.

Its that simple.

Only a career ending injury will stop him.

Not only is he going to retire with more saves the MR, he is going to shatter it.

If you still think his odds are less then .5% you are nothing less then an idiot.

Less than 1% chance IMO.

It's 1% plain and simple - plenty young relievers out here with a good number of saves...

Actually less than 1%%%

Would you like to give an update on those odds?

Since you think the odds are greater then 100 to 1 how about you let me bet $500 at 50 to 1?

What an incredible overlay you got there.

Come on 5bump

Agree Hoffman did his with the Pads..

Team is not a huge factor..

If it happens I will never post here agin under any screen name. No chance in hell...

And now Kimbrel is doing it with the Pads. How ironic.
