With the 2011 MLB All Star game right around the corner, there has been a ton of attention on all of the controversy surrounding the game, but not enough talk about who will actually win. Nothing will change the players that have been named to their respective sides, and nothing will change that the game will once again be appreciated for what it is: a spectacle. The best betting services part of the annual midsummer classic is once the controversy is ignored and the focus shifts to the game, and when it does this year look for the American League side to make people forget about everything except how much fun it is to be part of the experience.

The AL will send three of the top four home run hitters for this season, including reigning home run king Jose Bautista. The Toronto Blue Jays’ outfielder has continued his torrid pace this season with another 28 home runs through 284 at-bats, which is fewer opportunities than any other hitter in the top-five aside from Lance Berkman of the St. Louis Cardinals. Bautista received a record 7.4-million votes to go to this year’s All Star game, and after watching the way that he took a couple of All Stars yard in Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee of the Philadelphia Phillies, there is no doubt that he is going to be looking to drive the long ball at this year’s MLB All Star game.

The same can be said for a couple of the four New York Yankees’ starters named to this year’s team that are also at the top of the list in home runs. Mark Teixeira had a monster month of June to move into a tie with Curtis Granderson for the team lead with 25 home runs each, which is why the Yankees are so much further ahead of any other team in the majors in that wagering services category. New York will also send Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter to this year’s midsummer classic, and both arrive under a ton of criticism. What that means is that both will have something to prove when they reach the batter’s box, and that makes the AL that much more dangerous.

The National League may hold a slight advantage in terms of their pitching staff, but it won’t be enough to make up for their lack of offense in contrast to the AL. Don’t forget about David Ortiz and another AL MVP candidate in Adrian Gonzalez, both of whom have the power and edge to put on a show at this year’s game. The NL finally snapped their streak of 13 straight losses at last year’s MLB All Star game with a 3-1 win, and that will serve as extra motivation for the AL to avoid being held to such a low run total for the second year in a row as the long ball drives them to a bookmaking agent win.
