I fly about 4 times a week. I hate the lines and the scanners, but it's the way the world is these days.

I do believe they should profile. If you look like you are from the Middle East you should get the full body search. Too bad. If Irish guys start blowing up planes, I will have no problem with them giving me the full search. It's just common sense to search the ethnic groups that have been involved in these things.

Only four U.S airliners have been hijacked in the past 36 years out of over 15million flights and they were all on the same day by one coordinated group.

Therefore, it's not particularly reasonable to presume that anyone can preemptively predict who will be "involved in these things".

It's far more reasonable to presume that unless someone can carry on a weapon capable of breaching the sealed cockpit, no one will ever again in the next 36 years and 15million+ flights successfully hijack a U.S. airliner.

Such weapons can be easily detected without the use of either body scanners or groping federal agents.

All of that noted, Sean aptly notes that if you don't want to encounter either form of intrusion, you should pretty much plan on not flying commercially within the USA.

I have flown about 20 times with a thing I got a few years ago for Christmas. It is this litlle thing with a flashlight on it and a pair of pliers, a couple screw drivers and also about a 4 inch knife on it. At first i did it by mistake and now I just keep it in there all the time to see how long until they actually ask me about it. TSA is a complete joke, they have minimum wage type workers who get a sick thrill from having authority over people they would never have without the job. Just profile and stop with all the bullshit.

No, molesting children and grandma isn't the solution to stopping terrorism. If a police officer committed the same acts these TSA goons engage in without a warrant, they would be charged with felony sexual assault. There needs to be charges filed on all of these TSA agents who engage in this criminal behavior.

Although you are more statistically more likely to be killed by a bee sting than you are by terrorists (in this country), debating whether terrorism is a viable threat is another discussion.
