LSU Should Play For The Title

They're THE best team in college football right now. They're solid at every position on both sides of the ball. And speed....wow! I haven't seen a team in a while with speed like that at every position. I'd rather see a tough smash mouth game with LSU/Oklahoma than see the Sooners wax USC.

Totally agree, LSU should be in the Sugar Bowl if they beat Georgia this week.

They played in a FAR SUPERIOR conference and lost to a FAR SUPERIOR team. Their defense is totally awesome and could stop/slow down Oklahoma a lot more than USC.

What really sucks is that they might miss out because they lost after USC and isn't able to jump them in the polls. If they would have lost before USC there is no way USC would have jumped LSU and LSU would have a comfortable lead in the BCS.

Lets see the true championship LSU vs OU

LSU should go! Hopefully this mess will cause a shakedown of the BCS and make for a playoff system which Im sure the powers that be will screw up when no 17 and no 16 bicker, but that is far less important than no 2 and 3 bickering.

LSU is playing for the title! The SEC title--that is. Its difficult to beat a good team twice in one year. GA is not nearly as banged up as the first one and the game is in ATLANTA,GA!

If they do win, gotta agree- schedule alone should put them in the big one!

Your trippin' Winky....You obviously live on the West Coast and don't get to see much SEC football over there....The Home of the Powerhouse Pacific 10....Yes, if LSU and USC played, the oddsmakers would make USC favored by maybe a point or 2....The TIGERS would crush any team in the PAC 10, including the Trojans...LSU will toast Georgia, in Georgia, for the SEC Title and whatever the computer's say then---SO BE IT!...

USC lost to a bad Cal, LSU to a good UF..Versus top 50 teams, USC has beaten one mediocre WSU, LSU has beaten 5 top 50's, and must beat a top 5 UGA(2 losses, by 3 to UF & by 7 to LSU..both in final minute!) a second time in their home state(50 miles from Athens).

That LSU would lose credit for beating UGA twice is criminal, that UGA should fall out of the top 10 if loses the SECCG by margin or closely given their 2 losses were by scant margin in the final minute thus far..would be insane and corrupt(like ACC Officials at the Swamp!).

Bias, Reperation(giving USC a shot after their '02 finish and winning 18 of 19, much like Miami getting to title game after being hosed for FSU the two years prior..A/K/A "PAYING YOUR DUES" & "NO 1ST TIMERS"), and those that go by Reputation only and a need to give the left coast a TV INTEREST IN A TITLE GAME..are gonna go with a team that has a win over #35 Sagarin-rated Wazzu as their claim-to-fame for a date with the Sooners..moronic!!!

As an LSU fan I am saddened they will be screwed out of the deserving right to determine their claim as the best in America on the field, yet as a gambler that thinks OU to be near unbeatable this fall, I feel somewhat accepting of this probable scenario.

Athletes-Schmathletes..OU is gonna punch holes in SC!..OU's Bama game is the only blight on OU thus far.. SC is very good, but unfortunately it's hard to guage how good, as their lollipop-fest leaves questions.

P.S. Common foes Arizona and Auburn both seem to say LSU is the better squad..and LSU waxed both easier and quicker than an USC that played both to the finish for margin, where LSU subbed liberally in the 4th of both routs.

(1)Oklahoma/(4)Michigan winner to face (2)USC/(3)LSU winner

then we wouldn't have this "debate"

I like where you are going with it BDN. I think it should consist of the top 10 teams with #1 & #2 getting byes.

They should have the top 10 in the BCS in a playoff system. The 1 & 2 rated teams get rewared for being 1 & 2 with 1st & 2nd round byes. We then break it down like this:


1st Round:

3 vs 10

4 vs 9

5 vs 8

6 vs 7


2nd Round:

3/10 winner vs 4/9 winner

5/8 winner vs 6/7 winner


3rd Round:

1 vs lowest seed left

2 vs second lowest seed left

then have the rest of the teams meet with highest vs lowest seed left from the bunch

I know there were lines of LSU vs USC about a month ago and I was wondering if you have seen an up to date line.

LSU has really come on the last 3-4 weeks and have looked a lot more complete than USC.

Just wondering if you have seen an up to date line.

I would imagine it would be about even or 1-2 points either way.

There will ALWAYS be bitching and griping....because the majority of people will choose to be negative. Hell, look at the NCAA basketball tournament.....64 teams get selected and there are ALWAYS at least five schools that are pissed because they didn't make the cut. Now, if you want to select the top ten in football for a play-off, then you should expect #11-#15 to be pissed about not making the cut.

I think USC is a GREAT team, and if they remain at #2, then GOOD LUCK against Oklahoma!

In my opinion LSU and the SEC are very overrated. Maybe it's the fact that LSU's non-conferences schedule included powerhouses such as, Louisiana Monroe, Arizona, Western Illinois, and La Tech. That non-conference schedule makes Kansas St's schedule look tough!

Just look at LSU's easy schedule. Any quality team could be 11-1 with a schedule like this!!!

Home against LA-Monroe.

At Arizona.

Home against D-2 W. Illinois.

Home against Georgia where they get out gained by 130 yards.
At a horrible Mississippi St.

Lost at home against an average Florida team.
At South Carolina.

Home against an average(AT BEST) Auburn team.

Home against LA -Tech.

At Alabama.

Squeked by at Ole Miss who lost to Memphis!

Beat an average Arkansas team at home.


Now that's what I call impressive!!!! Opponents record 70-75 and 9 of those wins come from D2 W. Illinois!!!!!!!
