Linebreaker - Are you serious about LSU looking more complete than USC.

Let me start by saying that both teams deserve a shot at the NC game.

I think you should have Oklahoma, Michigan, LSU, and USC fight it out for the championship. How great would that be!!!!!!!!!!!

But look at the last few games both teams have played. I don't see how anyone can say that one team looks better than the other.

LSU
La-Tech 49-10 Good win against a bottom tier team.
Alabama 27-3 Good win against a bottom tier team.
Ole Miss - 17-14 Good Win against a team that got beat by Memphis and Texas tech.

Arkansas 55-24 Probably the best win of the last 4.

USC
Beat Washington by 20.
Beat Washginton St by 27.
Beat Arizona 45-0
Beat UCLA by 25. Was up 47-9 through 3 qtrs then put backups in.

USC is averaging 44 points a game their last 6, LSU is averaging 35. On Defense LSU is giving up 12 PPG and USC is giving up 15.

Both teams are so even it's impossible to say one is better than the other.

Kman: You forget that LSU had to schedule a game at the beginning of 2003 as Marshall backed out on them. Arizona & La Tech weren't forcasted to be this bad in advance. The reason I think LSU is a better team is because they play in a better conference, lost to a superior team compared to the team the Trojans lost too, & they beat more top 50 teams then USC did.

Fair enough. Unfortunately, until we get a playoff we will never know for sure.

I'm personally hoping for an LSU loss coupled with a USC loss so the real second best team in the country goes to the title game (Michigan). I don't want to watch LSU get torn apart by Oklahoma. USC would be the better matchup against Oklahoma in my oppinion. I think without a doubt Michigan vs Oklahoma is a better matchup then either of the other teams mentioned here. Nobody in the country is hotter then they are right now.

Guys

All this talk is good and by rights BOTH USC and LSU are deserving of reaching the National Championship game. Both have one loss, and both played popcorn schedules. LSU's non-conference was heavy with pussy teams and USC's PAC Ten conference is filled with pussy teams. So when it's all said and done both have a claim of who should get their ass kicked by Oklahoma in the National Championship game.

Why is everyone getting so bent out of shape on who gets to play the Sooners??? This is a quality Sooner team that is EXTREMELY WELL COACHED!!! Both USC and LSU would be up against it vs Oklahoma and I believe BOTH get drilled. Hell the LSU offense will be lucky to cross the 50yd line vs the Oklahoma defense(3 games this year the LSU offense was held to under 300yds)...

I do believe that BigDaddyNoles has the right idea. A playoff of the four top teams 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 and let the winners meet is extremely fair and then no one would have a gripe....That way Oklahoma could dissect Michigan and LSU and USC could fight it out to see who the next victim would be....All elementary this year....

Bernie

Any team can win on any given day. Look at the Michigan’s loss to Oregon. Some might say Oregon is a lesser team to Florida. But with the way Michigan is playing now, anyone thinks they can’t beat LSU or compete for a NC? IMO arguing how one loss compares to another doesn’t give much weight at all. It’s how they’re playing at the moment.

LSU would lose to OU, USC or Michigan. Why? Because those 3 teams play well on both sides of the ball. LSU only strength is defense. Their offense is average at best. Look at their games against Alabama and Ole Miss where both teams’ defenses are average. OU, USC or Michigan would have dominated those teams. Many argue defense wins championships. Yes, but how many national teams won on defense alone? Very very few. It takes teams with good def/off to win championship not teams with good def but average off. Just look at Ohio St this year versus last year Ohio St.

Alabama beat Miami with a great defense and virtually no offense.

LSU's offense is hitting their stride. They've got every bit as much talent on offense as Oklahoma. Mauck is what, about 35, and very cool headed. Their down to like their 2nd or 3rd freshman running back and the kid is awesome. He probably won't see the pine again unless he gets hurt. And talk about receivers...wow. Clayton would have numbers comparable to anyone had LSU thrown the ball more during the year. LSU's offense is better than average, and that's more than they need with that defense.

ChadC - I'm right there with you!!!!!!!!!!

How great would it be for both USC and LSU to lose!!!!!! I'm a Michigan fan so I wouldn't mind but I really want them to lose so you would have 9 TEAMS WITH 9 LOSSES
