The point is the Saints D shouldn't have been in a position to win the game. The Saints should've been lined up to kick the game winner as time expired
hno:
but that's not what i'm trying to argue. everyone knows the outcome of the game if it is called correctly. thanks for pointing out the obvious.
the point is the saints still had the lead
4 stops and a W and this missed call still would have led to a win.
people say the call robbed the saints of the game. the call did not prevent the saints from taking the lead. the call left more time on the clock, but did not take the opportunity for the win out of their hands. there are two sides to this game, and defense is one of them.
saints wanted less time on the clock. guess what? should have run the ball. peyton knows the risks with passing and went for the jugular. he missed and got punished for it as well with the no call. tried to be cute like pete carroll putting the ball in the qb's hands. guess what play the patriots ran for the final touchdown against the falcons? run play. there is nobody above the team, not even tom brady. they did the right play and won the game. bellichek doesn't force the ball into brady's hands to make him the hero.
saints fans wanted another chance
guess what. they call that overtime. and in overtime they didn't capitalize. overtime at home with the 12th man is what the saints played for all season. they squandered that advantage.
every time someone says the nfl gave the rams the game, it's unfortunate because guys like johnson and zuerline made incredible plays and you are all discrediting them and the win they earned. they took the opportunities that were presented to them. a 57 yard fg is no joke. you act like that was some kind of "gift". it wasn't. they trained all season for this game and they left 100% on the field. they know they got away with a penalty but they moved on like professionals should. they didn't pout and feel sorry for themselves down 13-0.
