Expanding your options
I read a posting that GoSooners made where he said something like he used to concentrate on the BIG 12 and the teams he knew best. He went on to say something like this year he was going to expand his options and look for the best opportunities where ever they may be. I agree whole heartedly. If handicapping football was anything like darts, there woud be no numbers and no bullseye because all you have to do is hit the board, period. You either do or you don't fifty fifty it is win or lose. So by considering all 60 or more matchups on a given weekend you are throwing the same dart at a bigger board. That is a simplistic comparison but the point is that some propositions are better than others, some lines are more user friendly, and it is really not that hard to do. Some people may want to be considered an expert or specialist on a certain conference or section of the country. There is nothing wrong with that but you can use that base to expand your possibilities and those teams play OOC games so you are already doing it on a lesser scale. I personally almost avoid the MAC and Sunbelt conferences entirely because of the quality (or lack there of) of the teams. That still gives me around 100 teams to keep track of, that is doable. The rewards are probably proportional to the amount of time and effort you put into it just like anything else and if you are not going to put forth the time and effort you are probably wasting your time and money. It is three months till KO. If you read one article on one team every day you would be up on 90 teams with little of no effort. Personally at this point I would rather bet football than invest in the market in terms of quick turn around and % return. If you do the research and you see something that seems note worthy post it on here and we can discuss it.
