Those offensive linemen who spring him loose make one seventh of the 14 mill he is slated to make.

Seems logical. There are 120-150 men who can do what they do and maybe 15-20 who can do what he does

I think his lineman are probably upset because he put the word out to some of his teammates that he would be there and maybe changed his mind as he weighed his options more.

Otherwise they’re out of line. It’s an unwritten rule in the locker room you don’t comment on another guys conrract situation. Favre did that with Antonio Freeman and took some shit for it.

They're not commenting on his contract, in fact they said they understand he's trying to make as much money as he can.

I'm glad they're calling him out. He's a crap teammate and a complete clown.

if you miss $900k for every game you miss and you decide to show up for week 9 you just left behind $7.25M as he was set to be paid $14.5M this year. So if he signs for $16.5M next year (a diff of $2M/yr) he would need to work another 4 years to make up for the half season he's blowing off in 2018.

Also: "The Steelers also have the option of getting a two-week roster exemption for him when and if he does report without paying him for those two weeks."

Come on man, nobody said there would be any math here. He just wants "what is fair"

There seemingly is always some issue with him, and the owners will change that 11th week rule next time around because they're so brazen about abusing it

That will ruin things for other players next time around, for players that are really thinking about joining their team in the current year and NOT thinking more so about free agency

With is age and history and position, I don't think he gets the contract he's looking for. He's getting old for an NFL lead back

he isnt a steeler next year regardless, if im the steelers i trade him. may get a good return for a guy gone in a year and willing to sit out games this year. jets and colts are 2 that would likely be interested but i dont know if they wouldnt trade him inside the same conference. i know he is a great back but if he is gone next year id cut ties now and get a return. this saga could continue for a few more weeks.

They have no point either way. He doesn’t owe them anything. They should blame their org for trying to tag a guy two years in a row. Played with fire and getting burned.

They offered Bell a 5 year/$70 million dollar contract in June 2018

In 2017, they offered him a 3-year $42 million dollar contract.

With a similar amount in guarantees as the 9ers gave career backup Jerick McKinnon.

Steelers know his time is ticking given the short life span of the position. That’s fine, he’s just using the little leverage he has available to him.

they dont owe him either and he is playing with fire and could get burned. how much more than 5 years 70 million does he think he is gonna get. he will likely report to start getting his games checks since losing millions is stupid when the holdout is only over money, but he is playing with fire here. he is gonna start looking like a "me first" guy and that hurts your paycheck.

Limited signing bonus and incentives with less than half of the deal guaranteed compared to Gurley’s $21 million signing bonus, stacked incentives and around 80% guaranteed. Overall, pretty shitty offer from the Steelers.

Whats a “me first” guy look like? Someone using the leverage available to them in a bad situation?

Like I said in the previous post, they aren’t offering him much. That’s fine, but they shouldn’t cry about it when the rabbit got the gun. No wonder NE always gives it to them. Whiners.

a me first guy looks like dez bryant or terrell owens. and i feel like the players are whining about it. i think the steelers are doing the right thing and not overpaying for an RB.

bad situation?
aren't offering him much?

wtf are you talking about? he was the highest paid RB in NFL and, if he reports this week, will again be the highest paid RB in the NFL

other than Gurley he makes close to 2x the pay of the next player at his position in 2018 :)

his issue is that he doesn't want to be just the highest paid RB he wants top-5 WR money ($16.5-18M/yr) as he believes he's being discriminated against for playing RB. the stupidity in that statement cannot be understated... that's like a great accountant telling his firm to pay him what a top attorney is making even though they perform different jobs

"they aren't offering him much".... classic

it looks like the kind of guy that 4 of his 5 starting lineman go to the press to call him a piece of shit teammate because they're the guys opening the holes for him to be the highest paid RB in the league. that's a good indication of being a "me first" guy

They offered him very little guaranteed money, this isn’t debatable. And if he was allowed to hit free agency, he would make much more

if you tag a guy 2x then deal with it. I’m sure we can all agree the franchise tag is an anti-free market concept and should be abolished anyway.

With this knowledge, AB would have gone top 3 in fantasy drafts. Arguably second overall

Maybe they should’ve traded him 5 months ago then if he’s so dastardly? Why is their org so dumb and trying to tag “me first guys”

The fuck do they want this loser on the team for? He’s a moral hazard. They should really get better at managing this stuff.
