Well at least Mcdonalds has set up charities. When my son was having multiple surgerys in chicago we stayed at the Ronald McDonald house for several nights. They charged like $5 dollars a night was in a huge brownstone mansion in lincoln park. They feed you all 3 meals, free phones, internet, laundry it was a great experience. After that I'll never have anything negative to say about MCdonalds again. If you dont like their food don't eat it. But at least they are giving something back even if it's a fraction of what they earn a year..

This is backwards thinking. McDonalds and their business create 1000000X more problems than they solve. Can't see the forest for the trees here.

its food, nobody is forcing you to eat it.

mcdonalds is the king of fast food.

lebron is arguably the biggest sport name in the world and matches with the demo they target, male 25-50.

like i said earlier, good deal for both sides.

Ya. McDonald's is bad bad news. Endorsing them is just yuck.
I wish it was as simple as saying "well don't eat there", but it goes much further than that.

It used to be a trendy cool thing to do to take up sponsorship with the golden arches, but people are now realizing just how screwed up these kids are.

I think Lebron is making a mistake here.

Of course McDonalds doesn't put a gun to your head but its not that simple. Yes the thinking adult like myself understands what McDonalds is about but I obviously didn't 10-15 years ago. McDonalds preys on the young and stupid with lucrative marketing campaigns (eg. celebrity involvement) to sucker in the youth and portray themselves in a positive light. Lebron (perhaps unknowingly) is just keeping the cycle going.

And yes great deal financially for Lebron and McDonalds...unfortunately not good for anybody else.

How old are you HP?

I do have some reservations about how McDonalds sells its product, but overall, most people who buy it understand it is unhealthy, yet accept that enjoying the fat and salt and starch at that time makes them more happy than avoiding it. Otherwise they wouldn't buy it

And if that is not true, the real problem is human stupidity and there is absolutely no way the market will not respond to that

If it wasn't McDonald's, it would be Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell.

Or Disney, Microsoft, GM, Verizon.

No company is perfect.

People like to bad-mouth greed, capitalism & consumerism, but the benefits far outweigh the costs. Unless you don't like air-conditioning, computers, cell phones, new medicine, discretionary income, etc.

That being said, I remember when Happy Meals came with toy Hummers. Probably 4-5 years ago? Think of the message there.

Fast food + expensive gas-guzzling SUV = the American way

I think Labron is a good role model and kids love MickyD's so I think it is a good partnership.
