What's your point ? 12 seems to be the right number since it's stayed there for 2 weeks which means equal $$ must be on both sides ! Vegas takes bigger wagers than any off shore I'm pretty sure. Just try to place a Million dollar wager offshore !
12 meaning dead number i didnt think i need to explain it but i guess i did........and yes there are million dollar bets offshore on todays game......and believe it or not credit guys

Sportsbooks in Vegas are nothing but beancounters..try to bet a couple thousand on a NBA total or college total...try to bet 5000 on a side in hockey...Vegas books are nothing but a convenience to the hotel's casino players...Vegas sportsbooks went to hell after the Maydays, Martins, and Darks were gone..Big Deal, the sportsbooks take a big bet for Superbowl, try the other 364 days of the year...the only good thing about a Vegas book is that you get paid the same day..

Been limited to a dime (payout) at several places. I am a M/L player and have been capped at the Nugget and Plaza. The Nugget being the worst as far as giving me sh*t at the time of the wager and collection time. Beleive it or not the place I found most reliable for a large bet is The El Cortez. Who would have thunk it !!!! No hassles no ID needed. The Nugget actually carded me (that my friends is BULL SH*T).The only think the El does is the clerk taking the bet calls for approval. Never denied or hassles in any way.

Once again I have to say that you guys are simply smoking some good stuff. I live here and I can assure you that you can get down any wager your budget lets you wager ! Golden Nugget, Plaza ? Give me a break ! Did you see me mention any of those Books ? Why do you think Barkley, Jordan and other big rollers head to Vegas to get their action in ? Any day of the week or year and you can get down big action ! There are always those that want to belittle Vegas but they simply don't know where to go !

Were those people not associated with any casino/hotel?
Independant bookmakers in other words?

Kermit...Barkley and Jordan can get down what they like cause they are famous, and have lost tons in the past.

A regular joe who wants to get a few grand down on a normal game total, baseball or hoops, has a hard time in most touristy places.

I speak from experience. Harrah's may be one of the largest casino companies in the world, but they'll treat you like a terrorist if you try to get this bet down. I've been there, seriously.

No need to be surprised as the El Cortez is still owned by Jackie Gaughan who is the elder statesman of the family that owned the Barbary Coast, Gold Coast, Orleans, Suncoast, Plaza, Southpoint and a few more. Michael Gaughan owns the Southpoint all by himself now and the El Cortez is owned by Jackie. They have the Money and guts to take any action you care to wager !

Lived in Vegas from 1979-1993..you can't always get what you want...offshore takes way more than Vegas, and it isn't even close..:drink:

For the most part I agree with you that Harrahs owned properties suck and will not give you a fair shake on futures etc. However I believe that Caesars will take huge action if your up to it !

So you are telling me that offshores will take more than
$ 1,000,000. on the Super Bowl and without any hassle ? You are also telling me that if you had a $ 1,000,000. to wager that you would want to bet it offshore instead of Vegas ?

Damn... You got more Guts than I do ! GL on your Super Bowl bets etc.

Palazzo, which just opened doesn't have a book.
The new hotel going up where the Stardust was,( forgot it's name) isn't going to have a book.
Hotels/casinos nowadays don't want to be in the sportsbook business.
Palazzo is the only Casino in Vegas that I have never been to yet. However the Palazzo is actually just an extension of the Venetian and it's connected to it and much like Caesars and their many towers. I just happen to have it on my list to visit today. I will report back but I think its not fair to say that they don't have a Sportsbook .... Does Caesars have a Sportsbook for every tower they have added ? Pallazzo just had their opening a few weeks back and I try to avoid opening dates for obvious reasons. I will report back later after I have visited today.

For tax purposes and not signing papers, yes I would bet offshore, but only at a top tier book such as CRIS, GRANDE, OLY, or Pinnacle...maybe even with Steak Tartar if he had the cojones..:lolBIG:

I still don't get your point ! Of course We all know that 12 is not an important number usually but the point I'm trying to make is that books try to get equal Money on both sides of whatever number they have booked.
Taking a $ 1,000,0000 wager is a gamble as it can easily upset the balance very quickly. Most bettors who are making $ 1,000,000. wagers would prefer to make their wager here in Vegas where there is no question that they will get their Money no matter what.

Little Ceasars, Churchill Downs,Gary Austin's, Leroy's, and The Rose Bowl were places that had tons of stories as Sugarbear can attest to...and a cast of characters...good old days for sure!:drink:

Kermit, if you dont mind me asking, do any of these places still offer the same teaser odds that Barbary did? I am headed down for the first weekend of March Madness and was hoping to find a place that still took 2 team 6 point basketball teasers. Thanks. MT
