Lebron obtained what he wanted.

Now let's see what he does with it. Will be interesting to watch this Lakers time this season.

It seems in the NBA the team trading for the star always wins the trade.

In the NFL it seems the team trading away the star for a trove of picks always wins.

Unless Ingram becomes a real star, or Ball for that matter. The Lakers will be the winners this one almost for sure. Not sure the Pelicans could get more or not. They might have just been in a no win situation.

Low first round picks are pretty worthless. It's nice to have just in case the Lakers suck a year and it becomes a high pick (say a lost year if AD tears an ACL)

Getting AD should kick off a new era in Laker-land to where those picks are all late picks but who knows? Klay and KD died in 72 hours. Shit happens. Tough to predict what Lakers are gonna be from 2021-2024 when 1 of their 2 best players is 35 years old.

Will they crash and burn the next 5 years? Probably not but considering they sucked the last 5 years then it isn't impossible.

Mid-late 1sts certainly have value even if most don't really pan out though. Just in the Celts case not really enough value for them to beat LAL offer. Siakam was a late 1st, Draymond was a early 2nd. These were key guys on teams playing for a title 3 days ago. And if you hit on guys in that range, you get to pay them only 3-5% of the salary cap for 4 years which makes it even better.

Anthony Davis is an incredible talent.

Also, for some reason I think he will get along with Lebron better than other stars have. It's just a hunch.

They just watched KD and Klay....two pretty durable players get hurt badly. And then they trade their whole future for one player. He’s 26 though and this move most likely puts them in the finals next year.

You really think so?

The current roster does not make the finals. However, I expect them to sign Kyrie which makes them a contender.

My dream would be for the C's to sign my boy Kemba, but I don't think that happens because Charlotte has the financial advantage (I think)

I said when he joined. People here were saying 55 wins for them last year. I was saying Lebron always needs the first year and with the roster they had last year i was skeptical. Look at his history.

First year with heat lost in finals. Then won the next year. First year back with Cavs lost in finals. Then won the next year. They’re going to make a splash next year. They see the opportunity.

Hes gonna be in the finals next June baring any injuries. Who’s stopping him? The rockets? People are acting like they need a 3rd star...and they may get another high caliber free agent like Butler or Walker.... but Kyle Kuzma is pretty damn good at offense.

Lebron is always best when complimented by a good guard. That’s why I think he wants Kemba more than Butler. Butler needs the ball and wants to play hero a lot. Great defender but not sure his offense gels with Lebron. Kemba is a team guy, a winner, and a good shooter with handles.

Going to be very easy to put this team together around those pieces though. If they aren’t in the finals next year I’d be shocked. I think people don’t realize how good AD is. Him and Jokic best two centers in the league and I’d take AD slightly. With Embid as 3rd for me.

Can’t have rondo running the show. They need a quality point guard. I like Kemba to go there I really do. Even though he said he wants to stay in Charlotte but was willing to take less money. So if he’s willing to take less money....how much does he really want to stay in Charlotte? Because they can offer him the most. Seems like money isn’t that big of a deal for him. Maybe winning is. I think Butler wants to go somewhere where he can be the takeover guy. We’ll see though

Rockets could get jimmy butler. I could see that happening. Harden always gets tired carrying them and Chris Paul seems to always be less than 100% come playoff time last couple years. They need to ease him through the season by getting another all star

Interesting.

With the roster as is now, I don’t see them coming close to the Finals. Add a Walker or Butler? Then I can see it.

Short term I think this is a good trade for the Lakers. Either this scenario or trade Lebron...

AD with Lebron and anyone, they should be really good. Add some role players with the injuries to Klay and Durant I wouldn't be scared of anyone in the West. It will take some time to gel but I think it will work out (and I don't like Lebron or the Lakers). Good trade for both teams IMO. If you have a chance to compete for the title for the next 2-3 years you do it.

At the very least the Lakers are gonna sell a ton of merchandise now. The team is relevant for the first time since Kobe left

In my opinion some you are really overvaluing LBJ at this point in his career.

Meh.

He's a stat padder and not a winner. The Lakers over-paid (but you always do as a buyer in these situations) and I don't think this guarantees they will be in the NBA finals next year.

Lebron could play until he is 40 if he was willing to come off the bench and just play 10-15 minutes a game. Maybe that's his plan. Play 1 or 2 seasons more as a starter then be a bench player. They key would be to acquire a great younger player in free agency to compliment Davis. With Lebron coming off the bench in future years you would have several chances to win a title.
