Fair Warning:

All the money bet on all 20 horses to show goes into a show pool. Since you have bet both favorites, more money will be bet on your horses to show and therefore the payoff should your horses finish first, second or third will be smaller then the other horses. The best scenario for you will be if a longshot comes in the top three positions in order that less show money total is being paid back to the bettors. In other words. Route for a longshot to finish first, second or third along with your horses. Keep asking as you were the person that caused me to generate this thread as I noticed your comment about not understanding racing in the Derby thread.

Tough question. If Bellamy Road is allowed to control the pace, he has the potential to win by more. But if he is hooked early by Spanish Chestnut and the early fractions are suicidal, the race really opens up for the stalkers and closers and the amount the horse wins by could be anything. Don't particularly care for that prop.

Thanks for the answers Ted. Cleared things up a lot. Now a couple more: Reading your post in the Racing thread, what are exacta boxes and trifecta boxes when you have posted 4 horses you have leans on?


Also, what is the winning percentage of a horse player to be successful?

Your knowledge never ceases to amaze me. One thing about Sun King is that he ran very competitively last year against both Wilko and Afleet Alex in the Breeder's Cup Juvenile, finishing third and losing by only a length. Of course, that was last year and the distance was a mile and a sixteenth.

I'd be foolhardy to tell you that I love this horse and keep in mind that my record SUX betting the Kentucky Derby...

But if I wanted to go with a longshot for some fun (which I am), then this is the horse for me and maybe you, lol...
