You guys are assuming mental illness is the issue, and if not? The mother said he was normal, no signs of problems.

I don't know how anyone can not think its both issues related here he was prob having a ton of issues related to brain damage guy played 20 years at a extreme high level and contract position. I played 4 years and i would guess had maybe 2 concussions 1 somewhat serious and i can tell you they are damaging in all affects.
The only thing i can even remotely relate to to anyone who hasn't had a bad one is a extreme hangover only worse with mental instability, vision, body function.
I have no doubt its this on top of the life style issues he could feel he has no place without the sport he has been apart of, add the $ issues the loss of his ex wife. It doesn't have to be extremely bad it just takes 1 second of fuck this pull the trigger or drive off into a wall or cliff. Some people act like its so fucking hard to do something like this once its done its done.

That's what they said about Duerson and then they found his brain was so badly damaged that he was similar to an Alzheimer patient. I'm sure that if the family allows a biopsy of the brain the same will be found in Junior.

I don't think that this has shit to do with transitioning into society.

And the dude who called him a piece of shit -- may you never experience mental illness. You my friend - are an asshole. GO FUCK YOURSELF.

he was on the verge of bankrupcy. His marriage was in trouble. he was lost with out playing the game that he loved and had been his identity for the past 3 decades.

IMO it's a huge leap to say that his death has anything to do with concussions.

Trust me boat, it was the head trama. If his family gives the ok to examine his brain I believe it will show his brain badly bruised.....

hes had numerous concussions and probably had brain damage.

earlier guest speculated that seau shot himself in the chest so they could look at his brain, makes sense since most self inflicted gun shots are to the head.

Watch out everyone, we've got a brain scientist over here who disagrees that repeated head trauma leads to a degenerative brain disease called chronic traumatic encephalopathy which is linked directly to cognitive and emotional problems as well as depression.

Thanks boat3 for setting us straight.

It may be just my intuitive brilliance, but I sense a tad bit of sarcasm in this post.

the league is scared to death of the ramifications of the concussion liabilities, thus the saints bounty suspensions. This will put those concerns into overdrive.

IMO opinion, the bitch he was with caused the whole thing. She was driving him crazy until he went over the edge. Women can do that to you at times. You either kill them or wind up in jail. I've been with a woman like that. I'll bet she's to blame!

From what I have read the high amount of concussions these players suffer make it very difficult for them to cope with the depression that happens when they exit the limelight, have marital or personal problems or blow thru their finances. But one has to ask themselves how did these players treat their spouses and other people when they were at the high point of the careers. Did they beat and cheat on their wives on a regular basis. Stomp all over the little people when they were at the top. Piss away their paychecks on jewelry, cars and children out of wedlock. Those things have a way of coming back at you when you lose your clout in society.

Are you really commenting on his personal finances? Marriage? He was already divorced. Wow, you must have been his bro.

I do agree with you about him missing the game and being lost without it. That can be a struggle with the EX players.

IMO, there is no way he shoots himself in the chest unless he is saving damage to his head. Way to risky in you missing and surviving.

It certainly makes his accident in 2010 look not much like an accident now!
