What qualifies a gambler for 'Joe Q. Public' status, exactly? What other skill levels exist that are above this (excepting 'wisey') and what criteria moves a player from one level to the next? What separates the posters on this site from the public?

?? You must be a local ??

Been there, done that ... hate that bar. Yes, LOTS of Joe Qs.

So ... a public bettor is simply defined by their win/loss record? Obviously that isn't right ... any other criteria?

John Q. Public is the backbone of the industry. Without whom we would have no Offshore Sports Betting Industry. Not to mention the Las Vegas, and other area casinos and sportsbooks.

public generally on favs and overs. Get the majority of their information from sportscenter, watching a couple of highlights and think they know everything. They will back the "top-ranked" teams and have no problem laying heavy chalk.

sharp gamblers can pull out the nuances of a game that an average joe can't see.

Bob - no illusion here, you'd have to look a long time to find a bigger square than me. Always admitted that and always will. Why lie about it? I've proven I can't win.....

The outs thing came to mind because I know books who deal multiple lines will often categorize you from square to sharp lines solely based on having several outs. Nothing a book likes better than a "one out Tony" playing through them. Anyway several good answers in the thread.

Patrick,

When people talk about being a "square," they don't mean your PHYSIQUE...

I never mind at all when someone speaks the truth about me. A guy like me is only fooling himself if he thinks he can win. I've been admitting that for years. There's enough real sharps around here without me trying to say I am one.

Dudette, if you must.

And I ask because I'm working on an article and need some point-blank info, not simple generalizations. I will probably ask a few more 'stupid' questions in the near future.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Much appreciated.
