Was right with my thoughts about the lefty Cingrani containing the Cubs' bats but unfortunately with totals you usually need to be right about both pitchers... WTF Garza? Not only did he cost me this bet but he's not helping our team by increasing his value to be traded for prospects at the deadline... ##)

Played the Mets -121 today risking $484 to win $400. Came here just after 12pm to post but my internet went out for a few minutes. Too late now. I will not be counting the play in my records since I couldn't post in time but thought I'd let people know in case they have any live betting opportunities or anything like that.

What do you think about a side? I think Houston +160 is a great value. Keuchel has a 2.66 ERA on the road, and 1.96 his last 3 starts, while Garza has an 8.25 ERA at home, and 6.38 in his last 3 starts. Offenses both put up 3.9 per game so that's a wash. Looks to me like Houston has the edge here, and are plus money. Thoughts?

Hey, sorry bud - I am just finally getting a chance to post since seeing your question. I actually posted in another gentleman's thread that if I was forced to pick a side I would try Cubs 1st 5 -1/2 and/or Cubs RL -1.5. My post was actually one above yours in that thread so I hope you saw it because both ended up cashing. Hindsight is 20/20 so this is easy to say after Garza's start today but don't read too much into those ERAs for Garza... very small sample size as he just recently came back from injury and he has some very polarized starts (sometimes he doesn't have his stuff and gets shelled hard and more frequently he's on and dominates).

Just a heads up, guys.... I'm looking at today's game and these lines make NO sense to me... I can't figure out why the total is so high and why the Cubs are such shallow favorites. I have no idea how 10 runs are going to be scored today. I assumed the weather might be the reason for the steep total but all I'm seeing are gusts of 5-13 MPH. I also think Travis Wood (who has pitched as well as anyone and is worthy of an All-Star bid) is a steal at less than -140 against this lowly Houston team.

I'll be back and might be coming with some big moves...

6/22:

Chicago Cubs Moneyline -137 risking $342.50 to win $250
Houston Astros/Chicago Cubs Under 9.5 -120 risking $300 to win $250
Houston Astros/Chicago Cubs 1st Half (5 Innings) Under 5 -105 risking $262.50 to win $250
Houston Astros Team Total Under 4 -120 risking $300 to win $250

Basically I bet $1,200 that Wood pitches well so let's hope this won't be the random start where he gets shelled by a crappy team.

No concern about cubs travel from two nights ago getting home. Usually has impact on game 2. You think that is reason for line at all?

After my initial reaction to the line I looked into this game as deeply as I could. After it all, I still can't over think this one. In my opinion this total should be 8 and I think the cubs implied odds here should be around 63% or -170ish.

Had this game read right... the fact that the Astros ended up winning is astounding. No offense whatsover until the single/single/homer rally in the 6th... all coming with 2 outs. The strike call on a ball completely outside of the zone in a 3 ball count with the bases loaded robbed the Cubs of the go ahead run which ended up being the difference. Could have easily swept this game but still some profit nonetheless.

I'm having some deja vu today as I like both these pitchers' chances of shutting down the opposing team. My only concern here is the weather since the wind is reportedly blowing straight out at about 10-15 MPH. I will be monitoring this and could be back with some plays that reflect a low-scoring contest (game under, TT unders, 1st 5 under, etc.)

so with that wind you dont even think Samardzija is worth a little value at home against a weak Houston team thats only got like 14 wins on the road for the 1st 5 because I was looking at maybe at least a play on that was looking for some info from you on this game is what I was waiting to see......thanks
