It's time to acknowledge Lebron James for what he is...

Um Lebron is already better than Kobe. James historic run of 30+pts & 60+FG% is beyond efficient and something a player like Kobe could only dream about. James drops in 30 points a night taking half the shots Kobe attempts while getting double digit assists, rebounds, 2 steals and guards every position on the floor. Kobe might get you 30 but he takes a ton of shots and doesn't exactly get the assists or rebounds and he certainly can't guard every position on the floor. James is way better than Kobe.

Jordan said Kobe is better than James because he has 5 rings and James has 1 LMAO. Talk about lazy analysis. Using that absurd logic Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Dan Marino since Trent has 1 ring and Marino 0 and I guess Robert Horry is better than everyone in the NBA since he has a zillion rings with multiple teams. No wonder Jordan is so bad at evaluating talent and making trades etc. It astonishes me Jordan wants lazy and stupid reasoning like that made public.

cant stand these arguments the only reason KOBE is in this argument NOW is he is playing right in front of us in 10-15 years kobe isnt reaching the top 5 of all time argument and thats TRUTH...All of these players has had a great surrounding cast at some point so lets not even compare those.

I know the lebron cleveland team gets brought up but the EAST was god awful there was 1 other decent team and it showed

Lebron is entering his prime i dont know how hes even in the discussion right now he has 3 mvps and 1 ring... lets wait another 5-8 when hes reaching the kobe and mj age

Lebron is most likely the best athlete/ all around player when its all said and done but he doesnt hold a candle to jordan, magic or russel yet

For everyone who values what Jordan says, Jordan is an extremely intelligent, calculated, arrogant prick. Ironically, he's also my favorite player ever, but that's neither here nor there...

I'm confident that MJ is openly saying Kobe is better then Lebron because MJ knows Kobe will never pass him on the GOAT list and Lebron will. It's to MJ's advantage to down play what Lebron is doing, keep mentioning one ring, etc.

Wow LeBron 39 pts and 61%, and then he shoot some insane 3 from almost half court ( they led 13pts 1,5 min to go ) to drop on 59%.

LMAO, he don't fucking care. Much respect there! :)

Yea cogora...it was pretty clear he was looking to shake off this streak to cool down the media...he seems sincere that team records and accomplishments supercede his own personal records. That is a teammate.

To lose the continuation of his record after yet another dominating performance like that against a tier 1 NBA team says how amazing this streak has been.

Lebron is not better than MJ over the course of their respective careers (yet), BUT at any point in MJ's career he was not as good as Lebron is right now. I've never in my life seen an all-around game being played at this high of a level. Starting with last years playoff run through today, there is no way you can tell me someone has played at a higher level. be, plain and simple...
MJ put up these numbers for 5 seasons.

86-87 48% FG 86% FT 5 ast 5 reb 3 stls 1.6 blks 37 ppg
87-88 54% FG 84% FT 6 ast 5.5 reb 3 stls 1.5 bls 35 ppg
88-89 54% FG 85% FT 8 ast 8 reb 3 stls 1 blk 32.5 ppg
89-90 53% FG 85% FT 6 ast 7 reb 3 stls .7 blks 33.6 ppg
89-90 54% FG 85% FT 5.5 ast 6 reb 3 stls 1 blks 31.5 ppg

Let me know when Lebron has a better stretch than that. Thats 5 years not 5 games.

I said since last years playoffs, not career, which is closer to one year not five. And Lebron is playing against tougher competition.

During those 5 years he was better than Lebron is now. Look at the numbers he was putting up Lebron is no where near that.

That goes along the same athlete evolution theory we were discussing. John starks would still be bagging groceries if he played today. Tough Bill Laimbeer would be laughed at if someone called him an inforcer.

And how many championships did Jordan win between 1986-1990?? Wait for it... Goose Egg.

The greatest individual NBA stat lines over the last 25 years in the playoffs belong to Lebron James. Last year in the playoffs Vs Indiana in a must win game #4 on the road James had 40 POINTS. 18 REBOUNDS. 9 ASSISTS. Nobody has ever had a stat line like that in the playoffs since Elgin Baylor in 1961. Also what makes this even more remarkable is James guarded every position on the floor from Guarding Danny Granger on the perimeter to guarding 7'1 Roy Hibbert in the paint. James obliterates on defense. If he just focused on offense his offensive stats would be even more insane if that's possible. Jordan might be a better pure scorer but James is the most complete basketball player and Athlete I think I've ever seen .

No doubt. My whole point is... the game now is a lot better than it was in Jordans era, in my opinion.

Name somebody like Kyrie Irving back then? Naw we had Mugsy Bouges. come on man. Athletes have gotten faster and stronger.

Don't get me wrong, I am by no means bashing the older eras of the game. Those athletes were the reason the athletes now are as good as they are. Because a Kyrie Irving was able to watch some of these guys growing up and putting their moves into his game. Add in the physical training nowadays...The game will probably get even better 20 years from now. Which is scary to think about...
The game was a lot better then because the players actually used their brains and good fundamental skills.

Nowdays you have a bunch of idiots running around relying on pure athleticism to carry them.

The game is suffering because kids dont stay in college and learn proper basketball fundamentals.

Its like they are playing streetball.

Well this thread can be closed now. Kobe humiliates lebron in the all star game. Oh you dont think so ? Thats why lebron had to go to the post up back down size advantage lol. Kobe is the true student of the game. Knows all the tricks of the trait. Bump this thread when lebron blocks one of kobes jumpers
