Some people, including myself, will beg to differ with this. Once they stop calling pussy fouls, then we can compare the eras. Some of these players wouldn't have lasted in the MJ era......no such thing as pussy fouls back then. You come to the hoop, you were gonna get hurt. Oh how times have changed!! Can't stand the way they ref games now.

bron bron (in his prime) ..I believe in an one on one match up with MJ (in his prime) will dominate due to his size and strength.

Lebron had to go to a team with one if not two hall of famers. Not mention mj left at the top of his game to play baseball, came back and 3peated again. Still think Kobe in his prime is better than Lebron. For me even to consider Lebron being close to Jordan he would have to 3peat once.

There were still terrible calls and biased refs. This isnt football where the rules have changed so much. In jordans era.... We saw the game being played through and dominated by centers. Which with a mid range jumper... No center opposed a threat. Like they could have with lebron playing. Who drives to the basket like jordan would shoot a mid range jumper.

There was no chris Paul.. Kevin durant. I dont know if this generation shrunk or something. But the game is dominated at the nba level by gaurds now. And there are a lot of great ones. John stockon or chris paul..... Who u taking? The game now blows the roof off the players in the past.

charles barkley wouldnt make the dream team today. I think one of the most overrated players of all time. But hes honored in that era

WOW. Alright everyone, let's settle down here. Jordan better then Lebron? Fine. Kobe? You're on crack. For anyone saying Kobe is better than Lebron it's not even close. Kobe is the best "shotmaker" of all time, and I admire his work ethic, aside from that he is garbage. His teams winning percentage over the course of his career is the same with and without him. He makes the players around him worse, not better. His first three rings were 90% Shaq, 9% Phil and 1% him. When he didn't have the best frontcourt and coach in the league on his team won 34 games, and he was experianced by then. Lebron took the worst team in the nba, with a coach that Kobe got fired after 5 games and won 60+ games and took them to the finals twice. Let's see... Shaq, Gasol and Bynum or Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Joel Anthony??

Lebron is clearly better at every facet of the game but outside shooting. He's averaged more points, rebonds, assists, steals, blocks, fg% in both the regular season and playoffs. He has more MVPs. Lebron is a far superior defender. All-time PER rankings, 1) Jordan 2) Lebron 3) Shaq....... 18) Kobe. And before anyone says it, Lebron is far more clutch than people give him credit for. He shoots almost 20% higher from the floor than Kobe does in the last 30 seconds of a playoff game. Lebron has 2 of the top 10 greatest playoff performances of all time, Kobe has 0.

I could keep going for awhile on this one but I gotta get back to work. It's borderline insanity to think Kobe is better then Lebron.

its full blown insanity to think lebron is better and then argue the fact by posting stats. what is your level of experience in basketball? do u have any credentials for evaluating talent? obviously lebron is going to have better stats he is 3 inches taller and 70 pounds heavier.

Lebron is better than Kobe right now simply because Kobe is at the end of his career and Lebron is in his prime. If both were in their prime at the same time, Kobe is the better player...hands down, end of discussion.

Stats? How about the fact that Lebron is valuable to his team and Kobe isn't? Do you consider Kobe's teams winning as much without him as with him a stat? Do you consider Lebron winning nearly twice as many games with no surrouding cast a stat?

And the argument for taller and heavier makes no sense. So a taller/heavier man should have more steals and assists? Interesting...

I'm taking John Stockton hands down

you're nuts then. Offensively chris paul all day. and defensively I would take him. Don't know really how you can argue Stockton over Paul.

I mean just think about the hardest team Jordan had to face...... Utah? you kidding me? Stockton, Malone were great. But, Byron Russel? really? Jeff Hornacek had a jumper. But Greg ostertag? really? lol

the fact is....there really is only one reason why this thread was made....because everyone is loving Lebron right now. He was a question on one of my homework questions in one of my Economic classes. Not kidding. This mother fucker is getting way too much love right now. The same people calling him the greatest right now were the same people saying he can't win the big game. and he is a choker. It's simply perception. Because none of these players would ever play 1 on 1 for us to see.

But Kobe in his prime vs any player ever 1 on 1. I would take Kobe. Sorry but it is the truth. 1 on 1 is a lot different than a 5 on 5 basketball game guys.

So now we are holding it against Lebron that he's a better athlete? So Shaq was an awful player because if he didn't weigh 320 he wouldn't be able to back players in and dunk on them. Terrible argument. Kareem was taller than everyone so he wasn't good either.

did you read what i said? with awesome athletic skills and speed....which of that you cant get? I know Jordan had athletic skills..maybe above normal, but you have a beast of a man that can fly like mike and this mofo is huge. He manhandles most of the guards and power forwards in the NBA

This I can agree with. Kobe is his prime would probably beat Lebron in a game of 1 on 1. But we are talking the best all around basketball player. Allen Iverson would beat John Stockton 11-0 1 on 1 but Stockton is the better player.

Ya, I get all that but people are viewing the fact that he's bigger and stronger as a negative. Like his stats aren't as impressive because of his size and athleticism. Thats like saying Serena Williams isn't really that great at tennis because she's stronger than the other girls. Not fair.

i agree with you on that note...but now you're comparing tennis (non physical sport with no contact) with basketball?

Lebron is a terrible shooter, yes he is getting a lot of layups/dunks which is inflating his shooting percentage.

I guess you forgot when Kobe averaged 40.6 points 6.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 2.2 steals a game for the entire month of February, playing with absolute nobodies like Smush Parker. Or when he dropped 81 points against Toronto...
